Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantel Stratton Lund.
Hi Chantel, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I think I always knew that I was interested in helping people and doing something that felt impactful. From a young age, I was drawn to social causes and to those who were struggling, which led me to volunteer throughout my high school years. Through this work, I gained exposure to many different populations in need. Starting at age 18, I became increasingly involved in causes that offered more direct, hands-on experiences focused on building self-efficacy through connection and support. These experiences have continued to shape how I approach my work with clients.
During college, I realized that therapy was the path I wanted to pursue because I loved the one-on-one opportunity to sit with individuals and witness their growth. This led me to internships and practicums at places such as the Utah State Hospital and The Refuge in Orem, where I gained experience working with a wide range of populations, including individuals on both sides of the legal system.
After graduate school, I began working in an outpatient setting, seeing clients regularly and learning more about the effects of ketamine on depressive disorders, PTSD, and anxiety. I have loved gaining experience with cutting-edge therapeutic approaches such as ketamine-assisted therapy, TMS, and SGB. This is where I discovered a passion for working with the broader community and realized that I most connected with men struggling with relationships and mental health, as well as individuals seeking to process trauma and find empowerment in their lives.
In 2024, I decided to become more involved in the community and founded Summit Grove Therapy. This has allowed me to dedicate more time and attention to my clients without being constrained by a corporation-driven caseload. I’ve found that connecting with clients in this way allows for more meaningful sessions and stronger therapeutic relationships, as I’m able to be fully present.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have definitely been challenges and obstacles along the way. Beginning graduate school while pregnant and then navigating the postpartum period taught me how to ask for help and manage my time in ways I never thought possible. Building a business from scratch with no background in marketing has also been a significant learning curve. However, like most challenges in life, these experiences have brought growth and learning in ways I never would have expected.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Summit Grove Therapy, I am located in Pleasant Grove, Utah, where I offer therapy services to clients. I currently run the practice independently and have grown it from the ground up. I specialize in trauma therapy and men’s mental health, blending modalities such as EMDR and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to help clients find a sense of purpose and take steps forward in ways that feel empowering.
What sets me apart is my experience working with diverse populations and my ability to bring a broad perspective to each client’s unique needs. Whether you’re working through difficult life experiences or seeking to deepen relationships and find meaning beyond work or parenthood, I may be a good fit for you.
