Today we’d like to introduce you to Dalton Mickelsen.
Hi Dalton, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started off in D2D sales, then insurance, then Saas software. Built teams and was a VP of Sales at a Govtech company. Then I met my business partner through a friend and we began discussing the idea of E3. When we decided that we were going to do it I went and raised the money and we started building it. Once we hit the market we got sued 6 months later for patent infringement so I had to double the sales team to pay for legal fees and sell what we had to get us out of the hole.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No. Buggy issues with the tech stack, a lawsuit and constantly running out of money. It has been an adventure.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Emergent 3?
We are the glue that holds emergency processes together. We have a safety app that notifies all staff and first responders in the event of an emergency. It then displays all of the users location on a 3d map that lights up red where the problem area is and green where the safe spots are. We also track students in schools through our SIS integration to ensure all students are accounted for in the event of an emergency.
I’m most proud our team and the service we provide to our customers. They love what we provide and how fast responsively we are. I want readers to know that we are constantly learning and constantly creating the greatest emergency response software to help schools, hospitals and gov locations in any emergency.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Focus and trust. You have to be focused and all in. You have to be able to trust all those around you that you bring aboard.
