Meet Jacob Webb of Webb Cabinetry Design

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Webb.

Hi Jacob, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got started working in a cabinet shop during my senior year of High School at Kerksiek Wood Design, building cabinetry. When it was time for me to go to college, the owner, David, taught me how to design cabinets and allowed me to work remotely while at BYU. I learned how to balance a full-time job and full-time school while taking on many responsibilities as I became the Lead Designer. I studied Strategic Management at BYU and learned how to think and analyze projects, making me much better suited to run a business. I had just married in the middle of my senior year of college and I decided to start Webb Cabinetry Design. I landed my first client (Kerksiek Wood Design) and started doing full-time cabinetry design.

I started by doing all of his designs and added a second shop, which my wife helped with. Within months of starting, we pivoted the business to start purchasing the cabinets from Kerksiek’s and other manufacturers under our name, Webb Cabinetry Design. I sold cabinets and took samples to clients in the back of my car. I did this for 3 years before renting a showroom and hiring an employee. Now, a year later since getting a showroom, we have 3 full-time employees and have our sights set on a much bigger future for all of us at Webb Cabinetry Design.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been rocky, but nothing we couldn’t handle. Initally most of the struggles were learning how to run a small business. We never had any business debt, and overhead was low since we had no other employees. Now we face our biggest struggle, which is handling the growth coming so rapidly at us. More overhead and expense than I ever thought was imaginable was becoming due. Profitability is good, but cash flow has become even more important now that we are operating with over $1M in revenue yearly, and the monthly churn is growing ever larger.

We’ve been impressed with Webb Cabinetry Design, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Here’s a clean, professional version tailored for **Webb Cabinetry Design**. You can adjust length if needed.

What makes you happy?
My family makes me happy. I have 2 children and a wonderful wife who supports me in every way. We want to grow our family, and I love seeing my children grow and learn. My family is very young, but I enjoy taking them with me to go camping, hunting, fishing, and to other activities. I love the memories I am creating with them now and look forward to creating memories they will remember as they get older and we continue to work, play, and thrive together.
