Life & Work with Matt Glenn of Provo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Glenn.

Hi Matt, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a master sculptor with over 20 years of experience bringing powerful stories to life through bronze. My journey began with a simple box of clay and a late-night idea—by morning, I had created the exact vision I imagined! From that moment on, I was hooked. That defining experience shaped the philosophy behind Big Statues’ motto: “Dream. Imagine. Create.” Everything I do is grounded in this belief, transforming bold visions into powerful, enduring works of art that inspire generations.

I do my very best to approach every sculpture as not just a likeness, but a legacy. By blending sketches, photographs, history, and personal stories, I create monuments that capture emotion, strength, and meaning. My work spans intimate memorials and iconic large-scale public monuments all over the world, each crafted to honor lives, achievements, and moments that deserve to be remembered. I couldn’t be more honored to do what I do.

Some of my most recognized works include:

Fijian War Hero Memorial
Nadi International Airport, Fiji

Spartan Warrior, 10th Mountain Division – U.S. Army
Fort Drum Military Base, NY

The Spartan
Fort Drum Military Base, NY

The Atlas
USCCA Headquarters, WI

Arnold Palmer
TBC Potomac, MD

War Photographer Memorial
Manchester, VT

Bob Moore, Founder of Bob’s Red Mill
Bob’s Red Mill Headquarters, Milwaukie, OR

Henrietta Lacks
South Boston, VA

Joseph “Superman” Lemm Memorial
NYPD Police Academy, NY

Emmett Till Memorial
Greenwood, MS

Cy Young, Jackie Robinson, and President George W. Bush Memorial (Little League World Series)
Williamsport, PA

Chief Little Turtle
Churubusco, IN

I’m based in Utah and inspired daily by the Rocky Mountains. My beautiful wife, Lori, and I have five amazing sons. When I’m not sculpting, you’ll likely find me fly-fishing, skiing, hunting, traveling, or organizing a backyard football game! I believe that creativity, family, and a little chaos are the foundation of a life well lived.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building Big Statues and establishing myself as a nationally recognized sculptor has never been an easy road. Like many artists, I’ve had to learn how to turn raw talent into a trusted brand—earning credibility one project at a time while asking clients to place immense trust in work that is permanent, public, and authentic.

Creating bronze monuments comes with high costs, long timelines, and little room for error – often requiring months or years of commitment before a piece is ever even unveiled. Beyond the technical challenges, I carry the responsibility of capturing not just a likeness, but evoking certain emotions the viewer—knowing that families, communities, and history itself will live with these works for generations.

Balancing the physical demands of sculpting with the realities of running a business, managing teams, and navigating public processes tests me every single day, but it has also shaped my purpose. My core self is an artist in every way, and that’s always lead me to amazing opportunities and success.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a sculptor and artist that specializes in custom bronze statues. I’ve been in this field for over 20 years and I absolutely love it! I’m known for countless large monuments and memorials all over the world – ranging from the Pacific islands, across America, all the way to Europe. I sculpt a wide range of statues – including veteran memorials, public figures, mascots, athletes, and more. I’m a huge sports fan, so I will say most of my favorite pieces have been athletes. In fact, back in 2022, I completed a custom memorial sculpture of Cy Young, Jackie Robinson, and President George W. Bush for the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA. That was a very touching and memorable experience for me.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love what I do, and I’m always looking for ways to help people across the globe commemorate important moments or people in an awe-inspiring statue. You can reach me through my website or our social media accounts!
