Today we’d like to introduce you to Dance Showcase Company.
Hi Dance Showcase, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Nearly 60 years ago in Pleasant Grove, Janet and Dave Holdaway opened their basement to a handful of young girls and a big dream… and Dance Showcase Company was born. What started as a few classes in their home quickly became something so much bigger, because Janet didn’t just teach dance; she poured her heart into every student who walked through her doors. She believed in hard work, strong technique, and loving her dancers like her own, and that foundation is still what guides us today.
Over the decades, those small basement classes have grown into a thriving community of more than 300 dancers each year. What makes this journey especially meaningful is that it has always remained in the family. Today, three of her daughters help run the studio, and some of her granddaughters are now part of the teaching staff. Even our husbands have been officially appointed as backstage prop crew, it’s truly a family operation. Getting to continue something she built from the ground up is something we feel incredibly grateful for.
We’ve grown, evolved, and adapted with the dance industry over the years, but the heart of our studio hasn’t changed. We care deeply about who our dancers are becoming, not just how they perform on stage. We’re building confidence, resilience, and lifelong friendships. Watching multiple generations of families grow up at Dance Showcase Company is something we never take for granted, it truly feels less like a business and more like home.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. When Janet started the studio nearly 60 years ago, it was a very different time. As a woman and business owner, she faced challenges simply being taken seriously. The expectation then was that women should stay home and raise a family, not build and run a business. Balancing a growing studio while raising young children required an incredible amount of sacrifice, strength, and determination.
There were practical challenges too. As the studio grew, finding spaces large enough to hold more students wasn’t easy. There weren’t many commercial buildings available at the time, and each move required faith and a leap into the unknown. Growth meant risk.
But through every challenge, she stayed committed, to her family, to her students, and to the vision she had for what the studio could become. Those early struggles built the resilience and work ethic that still define us today. The fact that the studio is still thriving nearly 60 years later is a testament to her courage and perseverance.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dance Showcase Company?
At Dance Showcase Company, we offer comprehensive dance training for students of all ages, from recreational classes to competitive company teams. We specialize in building strong technical foundations across multiple styles while creating a positive, disciplined, and uplifting environment for our dancers.
What truly sets us apart is our culture. Because we are family-owned and multi-generational, relationships matter deeply to us. We know our dancers and their families personally. We’re intentional about teaching more than choreography, we teach work ethic, accountability, teamwork, and confidence. Our dancers are challenged to grow both technically and personally.
We are known for strong, clean technique, age-appropriate choreography and costuming, and producing well-rounded dancers who represent our studio with class on and off the stage. While we are proud of our competitive accomplishments, what we are most proud of is the community we’ve built. Families stay with us for years. Siblings follow siblings. Former students bring their own children back. That legacy means everything to us.
Brand-wise, we are proud that Dance Showcase Company stands for tradition, excellence, and heart. We’ve evolved with the dance industry while staying rooted in the values our founder built nearly 60 years ago. When people walk through our doors, we want them to feel supported, challenged, and at home.
At the end of the day, we’re not just training dancers for competitions, we’re shaping confident young people who will carry the lessons they learn here into every area of their lives.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
