Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Rose.
Hi Trevor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Our story is multi-generational. We are fifth generation dairy farmers in Morgan, Utah. Our roots are deep in the community and in the land we farm. In the 1920’s our great grandpa began selling the milk from his cows for commercial use. That carried on once my grandpa took over the operation, and when my father took over as well.
My Mom and Dad had six kids (five boys and one girl). Dad pursued higher education and a career off of the farm to provide for us. At this time the farm’s purpose shifted from being financially responsible for providing for our family needs, to creating opportunities for my siblings and I to develop work ethic and other life skills.
As my siblings began to leave the house and start their own families, the help my Dad relied on to handle the daily rigors of dairy farming began to dwindle. He ended up selling his herd of 50-60 cows down to 2. That move caused him, along with my Mom and my oldest brother Aaron to explore different avenues for us to keep the tradition of dairy farming alive.
After careful consideration, we shifted our business model from selling milk commercially to packaging and selling our own products to be sold directly to the consumers. Raw milk was our first product. We began by selling it to local customers from our farm. In 2020, my oldest brother Aaron and his family took over the operation of the farm, with the help and support from the rest of our siblings. When my brother took over in 2020 our products and retail operation was rebranded to Milk Barn Creamery.
In 2022, we hired our first employees to help grow our brand and reach a bigger customer base. In addition to our “farm store” we also began running a refrigerated trailer around to pre-determined pick up spots for customers in Weber and Davis. counties.
July 1, 2023 we opened our first brick and mortar retail location in our hometown of Morgan. That is when we debuted our award winning ice cream.
In 2025 we opened stores in Centerville and in Ogden. We are grateful for the many customers that have made this possible. It has been a journey inspired by the tradition of those who came before us.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing in agriculture is easy. Cows need food, water, dry bedding, medical attention, and to be milked no matter what day it is. It’s a lifestyle that requires the ability to put something else before your needs and to spend whatever time is necessary to accomplish the task at hand.
When you couple agriculture with the volatility and demands of running a business, there are always going to be challenges and opportunities to practice creative problem solving, patience, and diligence. However, it is unbelievably rewarding being engaged with something so close to our hearts. I personally wouldn’t want to trade where I am or who I get to work with on a daily basis.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Milk Barn Creamery?

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
People want to know where the food they are purchasing, consuming, and feeding their families is coming from. They enjoy knowing who the farmer was, how the animals are treated, where the products are handled and delivered from. This is a trend we not only see in the dairy industry, but in food manufacturing, in general.
