Today we’d like to introduce you to Krystle Randall.
Hi Krystle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve known I wanted to be a makeup artist since I was very young. I started modeling early on, which gave me my first exposure to the beauty industry and sparked a deep curiosity about the artistry behind it.
Throughout college, I immersed myself in anything related to hair and makeup—I volunteered in theater, worked with my sorority sisters and friends, and took every opportunity I could to refine my skills, including training at an Aveda salon. I also earned a business degree, which later became instrumental in building my own brand.
After attending Northern Arizona University, I moved to New York City, where I interned at MTV and continued investing in my craft through classes and hands-on experience. That time in New York really helped shape my work ethic and creative perspective.
I later relocated to Las Vegas, where my career truly took off. Within two years, I launched KoLoR Artistry and built a thriving business. During my 11 years in Vegas, I had the opportunity to work across a wide range of industries—film, television, award shows, fashion week, editorial shoots—and collaborate with celebrities and high-profile clients. I also became well known for my body painting work and appeared both on camera and behind the scenes in a variety of TV and reality productions.
In 2018, I moved to Salt Lake City and continued growing my freelance career. That same year, I attended the National Institute of Medical Aesthetics, where I earned my Master Aesthetician license in Utah. In addition to my work in hair and makeup, I also freelance as an aesthetician, specializing in advanced facial treatments and anti-aging management using targeted laser technologies and microneedling.
Today, my work takes me all over the U.S. and Canada, allowing me to collaborate with clients in a variety of settings while continuing to do what I’ve always loved—bringing creative visions to life through hair and makeup.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. This industry can be very volatile, and working for yourself requires a high level of discipline, organization, and adaptability. Over time, I’ve learned how important it is to create balance—there are seasons where I’m working nonstop without a single day off, and others where things slow down and I’m able to rest and reset. Learning how to budget and manage those fluctuations has been a big part of sustaining a long-term career.
The industry can also be competitive, but I’ve always tried to approach it from a place of collaboration rather than comparison. Building relationships with other artists has been far more rewarding than viewing them as competition.
Relocating to new cities has come with its own challenges as well. Each move meant starting over, rebuilding my network, and re-establishing myself in a new market. That process takes time, resilience, and confidence in your craft.
I’ll also admit that the digital side of the industry doesn’t come as naturally to me—keeping up with social media and maintaining a website has never been my strong suit. However, I’ve been fortunate that my work and reputation have continued to speak for themselves.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my career is the variety. No two jobs are the same, and that keeps me constantly inspired and evolving. At the same time, the travel that comes with it—while exciting—can also be one of the more challenging parts. I spend a lot of time on airplanes, often working in cities like Las Vegas, New York, Los Angeles, and Miami, as well as smaller markets. Staying organized, mobile, and making sure everything I need fits into my luggage is an art in itself.
Overall, every challenge has helped shape not only my career, but also my ability to adapt, grow, and continue doing what I love.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a hair and makeup artist and licensed Master Aesthetician, and what truly sets me apart is the combination of artistry, efficiency, and professionalism I bring to every project. I’ve often been told that my speed and ability to stay calm under pressure are some of my strongest assets—especially in fast-paced, high-demand environments.
My work ranges from high fashion and body painting to natural, everyday beauty, and I pride myself on having a versatile skill set and a fully equipped kit that allows me to take on virtually any type of project. Whether I’m creating a bold, creative look or something more refined and understated, my goal is always the same: to make people feel confident and elevated in their own skin.
I’m equally confident in both hair and makeup, and I focus on creating looks that not only photograph beautifully but also last and complement each client’s unique features, texture, and overall vision. I’m highly efficient, detail-oriented, and a strong multitasker, which allows me to deliver consistently high-quality results without sacrificing timing.
Beyond the technical side, I believe my people skills are a huge part of my success. I know how to connect with clients, read a room, and adapt to different personalities and environments. I’m reliable, communicative, and always show up prepared and on time. I’m also very collaborative—I welcome feedback and direction, and I’m able to stay flexible and solution-oriented, even in high-stress situations.
During my time in Las Vegas, I became especially known for my body painting work, specializing in hyper-realistic designs that often mimicked clothing—pieces that would make you look twice and question whether the model was actually dressed. That level of detail and creativity continues to influence my work today.
On the aesthetics side, I’m deeply passionate about skin health and transformation. I specialize in treating concerns such as acne, rosacea, and signs of aging, using advanced treatments and technologies to help clients achieve real, lasting results. I’m often complimented on my own skin, and I love being able to share that knowledge and help others feel that same level of confidence.
At the core of everything I do, my work is about helping people feel like the best version of themselves—whether that’s through a camera-ready look, a transformative treatment, or simply giving someone the confidence to show up fully in their life.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me in my career is the freedom and flexibility it gives me. I’ve intentionally built a life that doesn’t revolve around a traditional 9-to-5, and that allows me to stay inspired, creative, and fully present in what I do. I thrive on variety—no two days look the same—and that constant change keeps me energized and passionate about my work.
Travel is also a huge part of my life, both personally and professionally. Being able to explore different cities and environments through my work is something I never take for granted. I often extend my trips to experience more of each place, and I also value having the flexibility to take time off and travel purely for enjoyment. That balance is incredibly important to me.
At the same time, what truly fulfills me is helping people feel confident in their own skin. Whether I’m working hands-on as an aesthetician or creating a look through hair and makeup, there’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing that shift in someone—when they feel beautiful, empowered, and more like themselves.
The relationships I’ve built and the experiences I’ve had throughout my career are something I’m especially proud of. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work all over the world, collaborate with incredible people, and grow both personally and professionally.
Now, over 21 years into my career, I primarily work on television productions, travel with sports networks, and do a significant amount of advertising and editorial photo shoots—along with the occasional award show and creative project. I feel confident walking into almost any job, and that confidence comes from years of experience, adaptability, and truly loving what I do.
At the end of the day, being able to combine creativity, connection, and a lifestyle I genuinely enjoy is what matters most to me—and it’s what continues to drive me forward.
