Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Thomsen.
Jason, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I returned from my mission unsure of where or what I wanted to be. I had plans to be an architect but with everything recovering from the crash in 2009-2010, my major at BYU had all but disappeared. I switched majors and began down the healthcare road. I eventually landed on chiropractic, because I love the systematic approach to healing and didn’t want to push pills or cut people. Also, my dad was a chiropractor and there was an excellent chiropractic school 2 hours from my hometown, so my wife and I finished our time in Utah and decided we were done shoveling snow and only wanted to shovel sunshine and sand on the beach. We packed up our car and moved to Daytona Beach, Florida.
After graduating Cum Laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic, we moved to my hometown. I began my career practicing with my dad, which was a huge blessing, and I am forever grateful for that. We made a trip to Utah July 2021 with our 2 kids at the time, and after a day and a half, we knew we needed to go back to Utah. After a handful of years though, my wife and I felt like we had stopped growing, and our family was just sort of going through the motions.
In January 2023, we decided to move back to Utah and essentially “leave the world behind” that we had built in Florida, and start over. It was a challenge leaving friends, family, secure jobs, and all the comforts we had. We were now going to begin from scratch, start over and rebuild.
Over the span of 2-3 years, I worked for a couple of different chiropractors and really excelled. I was helping a lot of people and building great relationships. In the summer of 2025, I was encouraged to talk to a local high school because they had a vacancy in their cross-country program. As a runner, this really got me excited. I eventually became the assistant cross country coach and fell in in love with the kids and school…but I was limited to what I could do because of my work situation.
For several weeks, I kept getting these impressions to “just be ready” for whatever that meant. I did everything I could to mentally, spiritually and emotionally be ready. As the weeks went by, I was let go fairly abruptly from the office I was working at, even after doubling the size of the practice in the 2 years I was there.
After a day or so of trying to figure out what was next, I realized that I had two choices: I either needed to step away from the profession altogether, because I couldn’t work for someone again; or I needed to open up on my own. After running some numbers and realizing I actually knew how to succeed and I could succeed, I crafted a plan.
Now, after nearly 8 years of practice, I have my own clinic in Provo, Utah, that is growing rapidly and in a way that is healthy. I am happy, enjoying life, and living up to the capacity I know I have been blessed with.
I also now have the freedom to coach in a larger capacity while practicing in my clinic. I am one of the coaches for the high school track team now, as well as the head track and cross country coach for the city recreation department.
We’ve been impressed with Provo Peak Chiropractic, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a family and kids-based chiropractic clinic that focuses on gentle adjusting, therapeutic modalities and spending more time with patients. I don’t do the aggressive “grip and rip” style of adjusting you see on TikTok and Youtube. I focus on specific and gentle adjustments that are safe for babies and safe for Great Grandma. I love having lots of tools in my toolbelt to help patients and my goal is to always listen first, test objectively, and observe optimistically.
I am proud and grateful for the relationships I have with all my patients. My patients become my friends and I am grateful for the trust they have in me. My office is a safe space for everyone and I will always be a listening ear. My goal is to take my time, and do it right. Most of my new patients come from referrals, meaning the people who come in send their loved ones to me. I have several families I work with where I am treating atleast 3-4 people.
I also don’t believe in making patients come in more than they have to. I don’t do any big treatment plans. My goal is to be the pitstop on the racetrack of life, where when something isn’t right, you come down pit road. We work on it, I teach you how to heal and improve, and then you come in when things need a tune-up. Now some injuries and ailments take more time than others, but I am proud of my work and my results and I am confident in my ability to help people.
When it comes to kids, I love working on kids with ADHD, autism, anxiety, etc., because with my style of gentle adjusting, we get the nervous system improving and functioning at a hire level, and we don’t have to do any big or aggressive adjusting.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I have been running competitively for 23 years. I have ran 14 marathons and 25 half marathons, and I have participated in over 200 races in my career.
