Today we’d like to introduce you to Torrie Bunner.
Hi Torrie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The journey of Spiral Quest comes from the idea that our lives are a series of cycles. We keep coming into contact with similar situations, and we either continue the cycle or break it and ascend the spiral created as a result.
The original logo for my business was created long before I ever knew what I’d eventually do with it. It came to me during the darkest time of my life, when I made the choice that if I was going to continue my journey on this planet, I was going to actually LIVE. I was going to break cycles and live an authentic life doing what I love and leaving people better than I found them.
I worked very intentionally to listen to and trust my intuitive drive. That led me to leave a lifelong career in taxes and finance and pursue massage therapy and energy work.
My approach blends clinical, science-based practices of bodywork with neuroplasticity-based aspects of energy work, alongside the emerging understanding that trauma is stored in the body and can be released through intentional touch and massage therapy. I hope to be that bridge from a cold, clinical approach to healing the body, bringing the human and spiritual element back into it to offer a truly holistic experience.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This has not been a smooth road. I very much embody the quote, “I didn’t come from a safe place so I became one.” I came from an abusive childhood which lead to an abusive marriage that I stayed in for 11 years. It wasn’t until I got the courage to leave that sitution and begin to learn who I was beyond the voice of the abusers in my head that I learned to love and accept myself. Spiral Quest Healing would not be possible without that journey. I had to to learn to distinguish what was truly mine to carry, what was mine to heal, and what was a lie used to keep me in a cycle that was harmful. I had to learn how to break many cycles. As time went on it became easier to recognize patterns and break them. All of that lead me to a place where I could use my journey to help others on theirs. Whether it is as simple as helping them ease their physical pain, or to help them break energetic chains, my clients know they are in a space with someone who truly cares about their well being.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My mission is to facilitate true, lasting healing through massage, sound therapy, and energy work. I provide treatments that address the root causes of tension, discomfort and imbalance supporting long-term wellness rather than temporary relief. My approach nurtures mind, body, and spirit, helping clients reclaim their personal power. I strive to create a space where every client feels safe, seen, and fully supported, and where they experience genuine care. I inspire self-compassion and encourage clients to treat themselves with kindness and gentleness. Within my scope, I seek to lift the burdens that weigh on them and provide a sanctuary where they can simply BE. My services are grounded in intentional education and training, and I share knowledge with clients to help them make informed choices for their wellbeing.
I am very passionate about what I do. I continue to dive deep into my education to understand the anatomy of the body and the best ways to help the numerous issues that my clients present with. The energy work aspect of my practice is there for the people who are open to it, but it is also a very “science-based” practice when it comes to both the massage therapy and energy work. I hope to be that bridge between worlds. I offer everything from deep tissue massage, to lymphatic drainage, reiki, and private individual and group sound baths. One thing that sets me apart in the sound therapy arena is that groups up to 7 people can book private sound baths in my studio. So rather than waiting for a prescheduled event shared with strangers, they can experience a more personal session shared with people they know and love.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think by the world’s definition of “risk-taking” I would be considered a risk taker. I left my almost $80K a year career to go to massage therapy school and open my own business. I have to say it didn’t feel like a risk. I knew with every fiber of my being that it was the right choice. I think when choices are made with an aligned perspective I don’t really consider them “risks”. I have found my life always works out for the best when I trust that internal drive…or “gut instinct” as some call it. My intuition is never wrong. There hasn’t been a single moment since I took this leap that I have regreted it. I love what I do and I look forward to going to the office every day.
