Today we’d like to introduce you to Monika Preysz.
Hi Monika, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I stated playing the piano at age 4 and the violin at age 10. I studied through high school and then decided to major in business in college. After college i used that degree to create Harmonies Music Studio in March of 1999. Since that time I have been running teaching many children.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I am one of the lucky ones who looks forward to work every single day. I get to see a new face every 30-45 minutes. Most of these faces and personalities I teach all the way from Kindergarten through their senior year of high school. The hard part of my job is saying goodbye to my students once they graduate and leave for college. As with any business sometimes the hours and days can be long. When I started my business I went door to door handing out fliers looking students. Since that time my business has been booming from word of mouth advertising.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My students really seem to enjoy lessons each week. Even the ones that show up with a frown at the beginning of their lesson always leave with a smile. We have fun at lessons. In recent years I have become known for teaching students with different abilities including severe autism, deaf and blind children.
I am an active member of the National Federation of Music Clubs having 1 student earned the President Cup award and 6 students earn the Grand Cup Award. I am also an active member of the Music Teachers National Association.
In addition to private lessons, group lessons and recitals students have fun activities like a music money store, outdoor movies, music history camps and other parties to enjoy.
Any big plans?
I am always implementing new ideas into my teaching. I have no big changes planned for my studio as a whole.
