Check Out Lesley Colón’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lesley Colón.

Hi Lesley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m originally from Puerto Rico. My husband and I owned an interior remodeling company for several years in the island, and everything was going well until Hurricane Maria 2007 changed everything. The island was heavily impacted, and our business was no exception. At the time, I was pregnant with 3 other kids and thinking about our family’s future, so when the opportunity came to move to Utah temporarily, we took it.

We quickly fell in love with Utah, especially how family-oriented it is and we decided to build a new life here. My husband had previously spent 2 years when he was younger in Utah, which made the transition feel more natural and helped us feel connected to the community early on.

I worked as a substitute teacher for two years in Brigham City, teaching Spanish. During that time, I met a mother who was going through a very difficult situation. I invited her and her children to stay in my home while she got back on her feet. She had experience in cleaning, and I had business knowledge and spoke English, so I decided to help her start finding cleaning jobs.

As she began getting clients, I helped her with the work. A few months later, she moved out of the area, but she had already committed to several clients. I couldn’t just walk away from those commitments, so I continued on my own.

What surprised me most was how quickly referrals started coming in. People kept calling, and that’s when I realized this could become something bigger. I genuinely enjoyed the work, not just cleaning, but seeing how much of a difference it made in people’s lives. Helping someone feel peace and comfort in their home is powerful, and that became the real purpose behind what I do.

As demand grew, I started building a team. Over time, my husband joined the business to manage the financial side, and together we used our backgrounds in business and marketing to grow intentionally.

Today, we proudly serve hundreds of families across Northern Utah. This is a true family business, even our kids help in small ways, preparing equipment, cleaning vacuums, and getting everything ready for the week. It’s been a blessing not only for our family, but also for the people who work with us.

Our goal has always been simple: to make both our team and our clients feel cared for. We respect every home we enter, and we want our clients to feel they can truly trust us with their space.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
We’ve been blessed in many ways, but the journey has definitely come with its challenges.

Leaving Puerto Rico after everything we had built was one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever made. We left behind our business, our family, and everything familiar to start over from zero. That transition alone came with a lot of emotions and uncertainty.
To be honest, everything about Utah feels perfect… until it starts snowing, lol. After eight years, I still haven’t made peace with the cold.

At the same time, one thing that truly made a difference was the people. In general, we’ve found Utah to be full of kind and welcoming individuals, and that support helped us feel at home much faster than we expected.

One of the biggest challenges in the beginning was the uncertainty. Starting a cleaning business, we didn’t know if it would eventually turn into something that could truly support our family. It felt like a big risk, and there were moments where we questioned if it would generate a stable income. But we learned that any business can become successful when you commit to it fully and put in consistent effort every single day.

We also faced criticism along the way. Some people didn’t understand why we chose to build a cleaning business or questioned its potential. But we never doubted what this could become. We saw the value, and we stayed focused on the long-term vision.

As the business grew, we had to make important adjustments as a family. Life became very busy, and we made the decision to homeschool our children. That shift allowed us to stay connected as a family and be more intentional with our time while continuing to grow the business.

Looking back, every challenge shaped us. It taught us resilience, faith, and the importance of staying committed even when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I currently focus on building relationships with our clients and making sure every experience feels personal and consistent. I studied marketing in college, and one of the most valuable things I learned was the psychology behind communication and how to connect with people through empathy. That has shaped the way I run my business and interact with every client.

At Yes2Clean, we specialize in detailed deep cleanings followed by maintenance services that help families keep their homes consistently clean without the stress. Our approach is not just about cleaning, it’s about creating a system that supports our clients’ daily lives.

Over the years, we’ve refined our process to deliver consistent, high-quality results every time. What we’re known for is our attention to detail and the level of care we bring into every home. We don’t rush through jobs or treat homes the same. We take the time to truly reset a space, focusing on areas that are often overlooked, and making sure the home feels fresh, organized, and peaceful.

What sets us apart is the experience we provide. From the first message to the final result, we want our clients to feel heard, understood, and taken care of. We focus on trust, consistency, and clear communication, which is why many of our clients stay with us long-term and refer us to others.

We’re not the cheapest option, and that’s intentional. Our clients choose us because they value quality, reliability, and peace of mind knowing their home is in good hands.

What I’m most proud of is the impact this work has on people. It goes beyond cleaning. We’re helping families feel more at peace in their homes, giving them time back, and creating an environment they can truly enjoy. At the same time, we’ve built a business that supports our family and creates opportunities for others, and that’s something I don’t take for granted.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up in a good family. My mom was a single mother who raised four children, and she did an incredible job making sure we grew up with strong values. She always focused on raising us to be good people and keeping us in a faith-centered environment, which shaped a big part of who I am today.

Personality-wise, I’ve always been very creative. I’ve always been drawn to elegant, classic environments and spaces that feel calm and put together. I love art, for many years, I used to paint, and it was something that brought me a lot of peace. I’ve always been someone who enjoys being at home and creating a peaceful environment, and I think that naturally influenced the type of business I built.

At the same time, I’ve always had a strong drive. I got into sales early on, and I was very competitive in a positive way, always pushing myself to grow and improve. In many of the places I worked, I consistently ranked as a top performer. That mindset has stayed with me and has played a big role in how I’ve grown my business.

Looking back, I can see how everything connects, creativity, discipline, and the desire to create spaces that feel good to live in. All of that shaped both who I am and what I do today.
