Today we’d like to introduce you to Braden Webb.
Hi Braden, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m a board-certified physician in anesthesiology and pain medicine and the founder of Deseret Rock Pain Specialists. My path to opening the clinic came from both professional experiences and very personal experiences that shaped the way I approach medicine and patient care.
I grew up in Utah and attended Utah State University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Spanish before going to medical school at A.T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. I then completed an internal medicine internship and anesthesiology residency at University of Missouri–Kansas City, followed by fellowship training in pain medicine at University of Virginia.
Throughout my training, I saw firsthand how deeply chronic pain affects every aspect of a person’s life. I also saw that many patients felt unheard or like they had run out of options. That experience inspired me to create a clinic where patients would feel genuinely cared for and where treatment focused not just on masking symptoms, but on restoring function, improving quality of life, and helping people return to the things they love.
The name “Deseret Rock” is especially meaningful to me. “Rock” represents my faith in Jesus Christ—He is my rock and foundation. It also comes from a childhood experience that had a lasting impact on me. I once became lost in the Uinta Mountains, and after praying for help, I felt impressed to sit on a specific rock and wait there. Not long after, my father found me. That experience taught me that God is aware of us personally and involved in the details of our lives, and that lesson has stayed with me throughout my life and career.
When I opened Deseret Rock Pain Specialists, my goal was to build a patient-centered clinic where people felt welcomed, respected, and truly listened to. We focus on comprehensive interventional pain management, offering minimally invasive treatments to help patients reduce pain and regain function. Since opening, it’s been incredibly rewarding to see the clinic continue to grow and to build a team that genuinely cares about serving the community.
Today, my focus is continuing to grow the practice while maintaining the values it was founded on—compassion, integrity, faith, and high-quality patient care.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road, but I think that’s true for most meaningful things worth building.
Starting a medical practice comes with challenges on multiple levels. There are the obvious business and operational hurdles—finding the right location, navigating insurance contracts, staffing, marketing, compliance, finances, and building systems from the ground up. In medicine, you’re not just starting a business; you’re also carrying the responsibility of caring for people during some of the hardest moments of their lives.
One of the biggest challenges early on was balancing the vision I had for the clinic with the realities of building something new. You quickly realize that no one sees your vision exactly the way you do at first, so there’s a lot of persistence involved. There were long hours, uncertainty, and moments where growth felt slower than expected.
Another challenge was wanting to create a different kind of patient experience in a healthcare environment that can sometimes feel rushed or impersonal. Building a culture where patients truly feel heard and cared for takes intentional effort every single day. Finding the right team has been one of the most important parts of that process.
At the same time, those struggles have also been some of the most rewarding parts of the journey. Seeing patients improve, hearing that they finally feel listened to, watching the clinic grow, and seeing the impact we’re having in the community makes the difficult moments worth it.
I also think my faith has played a major role in helping me through the challenges. There have been many moments where I’ve had to trust God, stay patient, and keep moving forward even when things felt uncertain. Looking back now, I can see growth and lessons that probably wouldn’t have happened without those obstacles.
As you know, we’re big fans of Deseret Rock Pain Specialists. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Deseret Rock Pain Specialists is an interventional pain management clinic based in Magna, Utah focused on helping patients reduce pain, restore function, and improve quality of life through comprehensive and minimally invasive treatments.
We treat a wide range of conditions including neck pain, back pain, joint pain, nerve pain, arthritis, sciatica, spinal stenosis, compression fractures, CRPS, and chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions. Our clinic offers advanced interventional procedures such as epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, kyphoplasty, joint injections, nerve blocks, minimally invasive lumbar decompression (MILD®), Intracept basivertebral nerve ablation, and other image-guided treatments. We also focus heavily on individualized care plans rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.
What sets us apart most is the culture and philosophy behind the clinic. We genuinely try to make patients feel heard, respected, and cared for. Chronic pain affects every aspect of a person’s life, and many patients come to us after feeling frustrated or discouraged elsewhere. We take time to listen, educate patients about their options, and work together to create realistic treatment goals focused on improving daily function and quality of life.
Another thing that sets us apart is our focus on combining high-level interventional pain care with a more personal, community-centered experience. We want patients to feel welcomed from the moment they walk in the door. Building a compassionate team and a positive patient experience has been just as important to us as the procedures and treatments themselves.
Brand-wise, I’m probably most proud that the clinic reflects the values it was founded on—faith, integrity, compassion, and service. Even the name “Deseret Rock” has deep meaning to me and reflects both my faith and personal experiences that shaped my life. I wanted the clinic to stand for something bigger than just treating pain. I wanted it to be a place where people felt hope.
I also take pride in continuing to bring advanced treatment options to our community while maintaining a small-practice feel where patients are treated like people rather than numbers. As we continue to grow, our goal is to remain known not only for excellent medical care, but for kindness, trust, and genuinely caring about the people we serve.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success less by titles or achievements and more by impact and purpose. Professionally, success means helping patients feel heard, improving their quality of life, and building a clinic culture centered on compassion and integrity. Personally, it means staying aligned with my faith, family, and values while continuing to grow and serve others well.
To me, real success is building something meaningful that positively impacts people and the community around it.
