my name is Karah. I am the owner and operator of SkinKarah Llc And this is my story. Starting a new chapter in life is never easy, especially when it comes to pursuing a dream that feels miles away. For me, that journey began in my mid-30s, a time when many people are settling into their careers. I was a mother of two young girls, and my past choices had led me down a path that didn’t align with my aspirations. However, it was their innocent smiles and boundless energy that inspired me to turn my life around.
My journey into the world of esthetics began with a desire to create a better life for my family. I enrolled in esthetician school, eager to learn the craft that would allow me to help others feel beautiful and confident. The experience was transformative, but the road ahead was fraught with challenges. The esthetician industry is incredibly competitive, particularly in my area, where countless skilled professionals are vying for the same clients.
Once I graduated, finding a job proved to be a struggle. Many positions I encountered simply did not meet my financial needs, leaving me feeling disheartened. It became clear that I needed to take control of my destiny. After five long years of determination, hard work, and relentless pursuit of clients, I made the courageous decision to open my own small spa.
Establishing my spa was no small task. I faced numerous obstacles, with very Little guidance. From securing funding to navigating the complexities of starting and running a business. Yet, my passion for esthetics fueled me. I poured my heart and soul into creating a welcoming environment where clients could unwind and feel rejuvenated and confident in their own skin. Slowly but surely, my efforts began to pay off. I cultivated a loyal client base, and my social media presence grew, attracting over 50 positive reviews and counting.
Today, I am proud to say that I am a successful entrepreneur in my 40s, running my own spa and living a life that I once thought was only a dream. My journey has taught me the importance of resilience, determination, and embracing the support of my loved ones. While the road was tough, it was worth every moment. I hope my story inspires others to chase their dreams, no matter where they are in life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Five years in the industry, I spent time working for others, and it was brutal. At the end of the day, the financial reality didn’t make ends meet, and the grind could feel endless. Yet there was no real choice: without that experience and client base, there wouldn’t be a future to build for my family.
