Conversations with Moronie Fall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moronie Fall.

Hi Moronie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
You know photography has always been a passion of mine, I took classes in high school and my photography teacher even encouraged me to do photo journalism. I am from the Caribbean and you didn’t go to college to study photography, that wasn’t a big girl job to my parents. They wanted me to be a lawyer, an architect, engineer, doctor. I did international studies for my undergrad and got my MPA degree not too long ago. After having my first child decide to take that leap and pick up photography as was looking for flexibility after having a baby. I hit my third year in May and I honestly can’t complain. I still have a lot to do and a lot to learn but I am taking it in year by year and giving it my all.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I can’t stay it’s been totally smooth specially as a photographer of color. I am still waiting to meet my clients and the couples that are meant for me. The Utah photography industry is really saturated and I hear other vendors say that there are enough weddings for all us but I’m not feeling that. It seems to be the same photographer booked and busy and I am there busting my butt to find my niche but that’s all part of the journey. I’m also learning to give myself grace and not compare myself to photographers who have been in the business way longer than I have l.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an Utah wedding photographer but currently I do all things photos until I have enough work to just do weddings. I love all things love and couple relate so my goal is to just that eventually. Honestly I’m proud of myself for sticking with photography this long, it hasn’t been easy but I am still here because your girl does not quite!! And I love photography to much. Something that sets me apart is one the fact that I am a black photographer; there aren’t many of us here and that’s something that I pry myself of. What also sets my work apart in the saturated Utah market is my ability to blend a high fashion, editorial edge with vibrant, true to life colors and rich, deep tones. I treat every session like a luxury magazine spread while acting as my clients’ ultimate hype-girl. I elevate diverse love stories and powerful portraits with an intentional, timeless elegance that feels sophisticated yet bursting with authentic personality.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is honestly the road trips we took as a family. I am from Haiti and I can say I’ve been to almost all the different cities. My dad is an adventurer and with his job growing up it allowed us to tag along with him as a family.
