Today we’d like to introduce you to Cesar Rocha.
Hi Cesar, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
La Bodeguita Latina was born from nostalgia and a dream. When we moved to Utah almost five years ago, we experienced firsthand what it felt like to miss the foods, flavors, and traditions we grew up with. We realized that many other Latino families felt the same way.
We decided to take a risk and build something that would bring our community together. Through hard work, long hours, and the support of our customers, La Bodeguita Latina became much more than a market. It became a place where people can reconnect with their roots and share their culture with their children and friends.
Seeing customers smile when they find a product from their childhood or hearing them say they feel at home when they visit our stores is what motivates us every day. That’s the story behind our business, and it’s a story that is still being written.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth road. Almost five years ago, my wife and I moved to Utah from Peru in search of better opportunities for our family. We arrived with a dream, but we had to start from scratch in a new country, adapting to a different culture, learning how things work here, and overcoming the language barrier.
One of our biggest challenges was building a business while raising our children and working long hours. There were many moments of uncertainty, especially in the beginning, when we were learning the market and trying to understand the needs of the local Latino community. Finding the right products, managing inventory, and growing the business with limited resources required a lot of sacrifice and perseverance.
Like many small business owners, we faced setbacks and difficult decisions along the way. However, every challenge taught us valuable lessons and helped us become stronger entrepreneurs.
Today, we are proud of what we have built. Our business is more than a store—it is a place where people can reconnect with their culture, find a taste of home, and feel part of a community. Looking back, every obstacle was worth it because it helped shape the business and the life we have today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
La Bodeguita Latina Market & Deli was founded with a simple mission: to help the Latino community feel closer to home. My wife Melissa and I moved to Utah almost five years ago and noticed that many families were struggling to find authentic products from their home countries. That inspired us to create a store where people could reconnect with their culture, traditions, and favorite foods.
Today, we proudly specialize in products from Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Colombia, and Venezuela. Our goal is to offer authentic brands and flavors that remind our customers of home while providing exceptional customer service and a welcoming environment.
What sets us apart is our focus on authenticity, diversity, and community. We carefully select products that represent the traditions and tastes of each country we serve. Many of our customers tell us that visiting La Bodeguita Latina brings back memories of their childhood, family gatherings, and life back home.
One of our greatest accomplishments is building a trusted brand within Utah’s growing Latino community. We currently operate two locations and continue expanding our product selection to better serve our customers.
Looking ahead, we plan to introduce products from even more Latin American countries, allowing us to represent an even broader range of cultures and traditions. Our vision is to become the leading destination for authentic Latin American products in Utah and beyond.
At La Bodeguita Latina, we are not just selling groceries—we are bringing people closer to their roots and creating a place where everyone feels at home.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
People can support us by shopping at our stores, sharing our story, and recommending La Bodeguita Latina to their friends and family. Every customer who walks through our doors becomes part of our journey.
Nearly five years ago, my wife and I moved from Peru to Utah with a dream of creating something meaningful for the Latino community. Today, La Bodeguita Latina proudly offers products from Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela, and other Latin American countries, helping people find a little piece of home.
We are always open to collaborating with suppliers, community organizations, and entrepreneurs who share our passion for culture, family, and service. As we continue to grow and expand to more communities and countries, we welcome partnerships that help us bring Latin America closer to families across the United States.
The greatest support we can receive is seeing our customers feel at home when they walk into our stores. That is what inspires us every day.
