Meet Trina Barkle of Dragoyle LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trina Barkle.

Hi Trina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a hard working mom and grandmother. Dragoyle.com was built to have something to pass down to my kids and grandkids. This is hard work, but worth it as I love my family more than the sleep I’m missing out on. Staying up late, after a full time job, working to make sure my customers are happy!

It’s my passion to create a good experience for my customers. Providing high quality products, top notch customer service and good communication. I understand how purchasing from a new company might be worrisome, but I assure you I have your best interest at heart and will do whatever I can to help you in your search for the perfect product.

Life time obsession with Gargoyles has now become a passion to educate and provide awesome products of all kinds, but of course includes a Gargoyle collection, dragons (which is my daughters favorite collection) and many other products to do with outdoor activities, camping, hiking, survival emergency prepping supplies, health, wellness and more.

It began when I watched The old TV Cartoon “Gargoyles”, I loved the show and when I found out that they protect the human race from evil at night, I had a deep desire to have my own gargoyles, since then I’ve collected them.

When I was young I didn’t feel protected, secure and felt darkness and depression. I know it was all in my mind, but when I got my first Gargoyle statue, as a young adult, I felt better! It made me so happy to have this being to keep me safe at night. My first decent night sleep in years. Ever since then I’ve collected gargoyles and fun things. One of my favorites from my collection is my gargoyle mailbox, “Rupert” is his name. It’s made of recycled metal and stands about 7 feet tall.

My middle daughter loves dragons and has collected them since she was young as well. They make her feel protected and safe. Dragons and Gargoyles with an infinity sign, showing our love eternal for each other is how we came up with our business name and Logo. We both now have it tattooed on our bodies.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A smooth road? Oh, no. During this whole process I’ve had several huge set backs. When I first started Dragoyle LLC, I was experiencing some medical issues, a near death experience and a financial loss.

I developed Complex Regional Pain Syndrome 12 years ago, this is constant pain, totally exhausting and is very difficult to manage. My doctor said that he’s never seen someone with this syndrome that has stayed working and trying so desperately to have a good quality of life. He’s only treated 4 others in his 40+ years and 3 of those are on full disability, 1 committed suicide.

Shortly after I opened up the store I discovered that I have a lump and BRCA2. While in my double mastectomy surgery they lost me twice, it took 2 1/2 hours to stabilize me. Then about a year later I developed an internal infection causing me to go septic. I died in the emergency room, had an amazing experienced, but then was brought back. That was my 6th near death experience.

I opened my store about the same time Tiktok was taking off. People were starting to make a lot of money advertising there, so I jumped on board and rans some ads. I did it wrong and lost $3,000. A huge hit. I almost shut down the store, but decided to keep it. I’m so happy I did.

Of course there were many other struggles, but I just keep fighting.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Family. I was kicked out of my family home when I was 18. We had just moved to California, I knew no one and had very little money. I was already independent, but this pushed me to distance myself from my family while learning how to do everything on my own.

After a few very bad relationships, I was a single mother of three daughters working 3 jobs and going to college. It was hard, very hard, but I was able to start my career and bought my first home at 29. I moved my family back to Utah and was a very successful sales person.

My daughters became my best friends, we told each other everything and hung out constantly. Now I’m an empty nester all all three daughters have settled out of state. Having this store provides me a way to keep my mind busy, so missing my daughters isn’t front of mind all the time. I have 5 grandkids now, the oldest being 16. I would do anything for them.

Pricing:

  • I don’t have the store to make money, so my prices are fair and often lower than most
  • Prices are set to have a successful store, but with integrity
