Check Out Kaitlyn Jack’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaitlyn Jack.

Hi Kaitlyn, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Kaitlyn Jack. I am 30 years old from Lehi, Utah. I fell in love with photography all the way back in highschool when I was on my school’s yearbook staff. I started taking pictures for different assignments and then just for fun and for my friends. I got hired as a highschooler to do some family or senior photos for my neighbors and then more and more opportunities came up. In college I got more training and my skills improved tremendously. Creating and documenting has brought me so much joy throughout all eras of my life so far. During hard personal times it was an outlet for me. I enjoy people watching, sitting back and observing precious although often seen as mundane moments but capturing that in a photo that freezes time. Those photographs I feel have potential to be cherished for a long time after the moment has passed. Today I run my own photography business focusing on portraiture mostly. I’m mostly known for my ability to connect with people and make them feel comfortable weather that’s with a big family with lots of kids trying to capture a family portrait or a couple about to get married and start their beautiful life together as their own unit.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Success doesn’t come without obstacles or challenges. I’ve chosen to not go full time with my photography business but that is what works for me right now in this season of life. I’ve experienced personal challenges including health issues and divorce. Those times have been examples where life didn’t go necessarily according to my plan but they stretched me and helped me grow in ways I couldn’t have predicted. I’ve felt closer to God and my family thanks to all of their support and I’ve become a more resilient person which I love and am so proud of!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I think what sets me apart from others is the way I can easily connect with people. My mom taught me young how to introduce myself and make friends. Luckily that’s a skill that has become so natural to me. I’m naturally interested in people and can make conversation with just about anyone. I think this helps me to put my clients at ease where they can be themselves and feel more comfortable in an often vulnerable situation getting their photograph taken. This skill has aided me in all aspects of my life even outside of my professional life.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and mindset. I love creating and sharing. I tend to monetize my hobbies and talents which has been nice in helping pay my mortgage. I’ve also been very drawn to my faith and belief. I try and follow Jesus Christ and live my life in a way that is outward focused serving those around me. My other interests include all things ocean like swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. I feel so alive in the water and love to explore the beautiful world we live in. When I’m home you’ll catch me watching the Boston Red Sox, reading, or baking.
