Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Kasch.
Hi Chelsea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I first discovered my passion for design during my junior year of high school, when I took an internship class and was placed at a local furniture store. I loved every minute of it, and by the end of my internship, the company hired me on. Over the next ten years, I worked as a showroom designer, also helping the owner furnish homes that were featured in the Utah Valley Parade of Homes. Through that experience, I built lasting relationships with clients and local builders, which ultimately inspired me to branch out on my own.
In 2016, I founded Chelsea K Designs. As my business grew, I realized that I loved the construction side of the design process just as much—if not more—than the furnishing aspect. That passion led me to obtain my General Contractor’s license, allowing me to be more deeply involved in every stage of a project. Today, our team works with builders and clients throughout Utah, specializing in luxury residential builds that blend thoughtful design with exceptional craftsmanship.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My first project on my own was definitely a leap. I decided to do the entire job for free just to get my name out there. It felt like a big risk at the time, but it paid off—the home ended up being featured in the Utah Valley Parade of Homes and even won an award in its tier.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Over the years, we’ve learned that one of the most valuable resources in building a custom home is having a designer involved from the start. We realized our true purpose was to bridge the gap between clients and builders—streamlining communication, guiding selections, and keeping every detail aligned. When designing a home, there are easily over 500 decisions to make, and our goal is to make that process as seamless and enjoyable as possible. We help our clients feel confident in their choices while ensuring our builders get the answers they need quickly and efficiently.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to shadow talented designers at the store where I first got my start. When I eventually ventured out on my own, I discovered just how supportive and collaborative the design community is—especially here in Utah Valley. I’ve made so many wonderful friends in the industry, and we’re constantly sharing ideas and inspiring each other. We’ve always said there’s more than enough work to go around, and that spirit of community is one of my favorite parts of what I do.
