Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Anderson.
Nicole, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey has always been rooted in curiosity, storytelling, and a love of the outdoors. I started by teaching science and communication, but I found my passion in helping people connect more deeply with the places they visit. Through writing, art, public speaking, and educational resources, I’ve combined travel, history, and nature into experiences that inspire exploration. Today, I create books, classes, and content that encourage families and lifelong learners to discover the stories hidden in our national parks and wild places, because every landscape has something meaningful to teach us.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Building a business around storytelling, travel, and education takes persistence, and there have been plenty of challenges, from learning the publishing process and wearing every hat as an entrepreneur to balancing creativity with the realities of running a business. Every setback and delay has taught me something valuable, though. Those experiences have made me more resilient, strengthened my mission, and reminded me that the best stories often come from the challenges we overcome.

I’m an author, educator, speaker, and storyteller who helps people discover the stories behind the places they explore. My work blends history, science, culture, and personal experiences to make nature more accessible and meaningful for families, travelers, and lifelong learners.
I’m the author of “The A’s & B’s of Our Inland Sea”, which introduces young readers to the Great Salt Lake, one of Utah’s most unique landscapes, and the creator of the “For the Love of the Parks” series, a five-book collection exploring all 63 U.S. National Parks through immersive storytelling, history, geology, wildlife, and practical travel insights.
What I’m most proud of is creating resources that inspire curiosity across generations. Whether someone is reading with their child, planning a road trip, or standing at a scenic overlook, I want them to see more than a beautiful view; I want them to understand the stories that shaped it. I believe that’s what sets my work apart: I don’t just write about places; I help people form a deeper connection with them that lasts long after they leave.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Some of my favorite childhood memories were spent camping, hunting, and exploring the outdoors with my mom and dad. We traveled throughout Utah’s incredible red-rock country, where I learned to appreciate the beauty of the desert, the quiet of early mornings, and the adventure of exploring new places. Those experiences sparked a lifelong love of nature and storytelling. Looking back, I realize those family trips didn’t just create wonderful memories; they shaped who I am and inspired my writing and educational resources I create today.
