Today we’d like to introduce you to Blond.
Blond, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Most of our members had musical talents before we came together as a band. Ricky Wade our drummer and Jake Sparks our front man and rhythm guitar player met in high school in the year 2020. During that summer Connor Bliss joined the band on guitar and we started writing original music. By August of that same year we released our first single Cream Soda with former members Jake Hurtado on vocals and Anderson Packer on bass. During the next few years we would play local shows at places like Kilby Court and The Boardwalk. By 2022 the band experienced line up changes and a small hiatus. During the hiatus our second single Midnight Joyride was released. By 2025 the band joins back together now with JD Crotts on bass guitar. Currently we are writing new material and trying to play as many local shows as we can.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Some of our struggles include fitting in daily life and responsibilities with our goals for the band. In recent years we’ve had members serve LDS missions, and others were traveling long distances from college to rehearse and perform. But even during the times when getting together was difficult, we all managed to keep the project going. Even with the various demands of our lives stacking up over the years, we have continued to value the process of creating and playing original music at the highest possible level. At the end of the day, there is no greater feeling than making some noise with your friends.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Each of our members come from unique and vastly differing musical backgrounds. Those individual influences combine to create a sound that, over the years, has become uniquely our own. With a style characterized by a mixture of surf rock melodies, heavy instrumentals, and catchy choruses.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
The thing that we strive for above all else is to provide a special experience for those who come to see us, whether for the first time or the tenth. Every show is an opportunity to let our music speak for itself and to create a shared moment of catharsis and enjoyment. One of our favorite things to do before a show is to sit down and create a unique setlist with a compelling arc. The moments where we link up and play a riff that gets the crowd moving are the ones that mean everything to us.
