Today we’d like to introduce you to Fernando Gomez.
Hi Fernando, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It is a More than thirty years ago our spirits were unexpectedly awakened. We began to understand what our God given mission was to be on this earth. We had lived in the Philippine Islands for more than fifteen years carrying out our earthly undertaking. We had been materially blessed beyond expectations and I was about to be released as a Regional Representative for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which position I had held for five years.ong story but here goes. Upon my release, we were asked by Elder Dallin H. Oaks to prepare for another assignment. Elder Jacob de Jager the Philippines Area President in my exit interview told me to first visit Mexico. Not having a true purpose, I was reluctant to visit Mexico having no idea how to contact my relatives. Time was of the essence as I also had to get my business affairs in order After much meditation and prayer my wife and I flew to Mexico City on February 29,1992 not knowing where we were going. We drove to Pachuca, Hidalgo where my father was born. We had an unexpected incident that led us to my cousin Pablo. and he contacted other family members. He gave us items that related to my father’s early life. We felt we had accomplished the objective…
My cousin Raymundo organized a family reunion that took place the following weekend on March 8 and 9 of 1992 in Mexico City. This unexpected reunion led us to a humble, yet significant collection of historical material of the LDS Church, that had been kept by our Aunt Consuelo Gomez Gonzalez.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The struggles have basically doing something that has never been done. We started presenting the project to LDS leaders in Mexico got acceptance and when we were opening the museum we had to do it on our 0un.

OUR objective is to collect, preserve and exhibit mormon Mexican material that was used in Mexico by the LDS Churcha
Any big plans?
We want for our collection and exhibits to remain for as long as possible as we have for the past 35 years
