Hi Mykelle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Kelles Rings somewhat unexpectedly. I’ve always loved working with my hands and creating things, but when I first discovered silversmithing, I immediately fell in love with the process. There was something so rewarding about taking a piece of metal and a stone and turning them into something that someone could wear and keep forever.
What started as a hobby quickly turned into something much bigger. I began making rings for myself, then friends and family, and eventually started sharing my work online. As more people became interested in my pieces, I realized I could turn something I genuinely loved doing into a business.
Building Kelles Rings has been a lot of learning as I go. I’m completely self-taught, so there have been plenty of trials and errors along the way to get me where I am today. Haha! There have definitely been times when it felt overwhelming, but every challenge and every stage of the process has taught me something new and helped me grow into the artist and business owner I am today.
Today, Kelles Rings has grown far beyond what I originally imagined. I’m still constantly learning and evolving, but I’m proud that I’ve been able to build a brand around my love for silversmithing, natural stones, and modern Western style. Getting to make something with my own hands and have people choose to wear it is something I never take for granted.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a silversmith specializing in handmade, one-of-a-kind jewelry with a modern Western influence. I primarily work with sterling silver and natural stones, especially turquoise, and I love designing each piece around the unique character of the stone.
I think what sets my work apart is the combination of traditional silversmithing techniques with a modern, wearable style, while making sure every piece feels unique and intentionally made rather than mass-produced.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think persistence is the most important quality to my success. Building a small business comes with a lot of challenges and uncertainty, but I’ve learned to keep showing up, keep learning, and keep pushing forward even when things don’t go exactly as planned.
