Meet Pakiza Munir And The Catalyst Business Development Consulting LLC Pakiza Munir of Gandum Catering

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pakiza Munir And The Catalyst Business Development Consulting LLC Pakiza Munir.

Hi Pakiza Munir and the Catalyst Business Development Consulting LLC, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Gandum really started with a simple idea: we wanted to create a table where everyone feels welcome.

Food has always been a big part of our lives and our cultures. For us, food is not just about eating; it’s about hospitality, family, celebration, and connection. Some of our most meaningful memories are around a table, sharing food with people we care about.

As we looked at the catering world, we noticed that there was often a separation between authentic cultural food and high-end event dining. You could have beautiful luxury catering, but sometimes the food felt predictable. Or you could find incredibly authentic food full of culture and tradition, but it wasn’t always presented in an elevated way.

We felt those two things belonged together.

So we created Gandum to bring authentic flavors and culinary traditions from around the world to the luxury event space. We wanted people to be able to come to our table, find something that reminds them of home, and at the same time discover something completely new from another culture.

The name Gandum means wheat in many languages across the regions connected by the Silk Road, and that idea really represents who we are. Wheat has connected people and cultures for generations, and we wanted Gandum to be that same kind of connection, a place where cultures, stories, and people come together around food.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like any business, we’ve had our share of challenges, and each one has taught us something along the way.

One of the biggest challenges in the beginning was building trust and getting people to take that first step, to try something new. We’re bringing authentic flavors and foods from different cultures to the table, and while many people are excited to explore new cuisines, others naturally prefer what is familiar to them. Helping people become comfortable with something new and allowing them to experience it has been an important part of our journey.

This has become much easier with the support of Catalyst Business Development Consulting LLC, which has played a very important role in helping Gandum Catering reach a wider audience and connect with more customers.

Another challenge has been building our culinary team and working with the availability, needs, and different skill levels of our chefs and culinary workers. We realized that if our mission was truly about creating opportunities, we couldn’t simply look for people who already had all the skills we needed. We wanted to invest in people and help them grow.
That’s what led us to create our culinary pathway. We work with our chefs and culinary team to develop their skills, build their confidence, and help them grow their talents. It takes more time and effort than simply hiring someone who is already fully trained, but it’s something we’re very proud of.
That idea of creating opportunities and providing a platform is really at the heart of Gandum. It can sometimes add an extra layer of work, but when we see someone grow, develop their talent, and have their food and culture recognized, it makes that extra work incredibly rewarding.
In fact, as we built Gandum, we realized that we weren’t just building a catering company. We were building a platform where talented culinary artists, especially from immigrant and refugee communities, could bring their traditions, their stories, and their skills to the table and have them truly celebrated.

As you know, we’re big fans of Gandum Catering. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I think the first thing people should know about Gandum is that we’re really passionate about authentic food, but we believe the experience around the food matters just as much.
We work with chefs from different cultural backgrounds and bring a wide variety of cuisines to the table. We’re not focused on representing just one culture. We love the diversity of food and the stories behind it, and we want our clients to be able to experience those different flavors and traditions in one place.
What really sets us apart is the combination of authenticity, presentation, and hospitality. We serve food prepared by chefs who understand and have a genuine connection to the cuisines they create, but we also put a lot of thought into how that food is presented and served. We want authentic food to feel just as beautiful and special on a luxury event table as it does in someone’s home.
We’re also very proud of the way we work with our clients. We don’t believe in simply giving someone a menu and asking them to choose. We spend time with our clients, understand what they’re looking for, talk through the details, and often have tasting sessions so they can feel confident about what they’re serving their guests. Every event and every client is different, and we really try to listen.
Another thing we’re proud of is making that experience accessible. We’ve worked hard to offer what we call an affordable luxury experience: beautiful presentation, authentic food, and thoughtful service without making it feel out of reach.
And behind the brand, there’s a bigger purpose. We’re committed to creating opportunities for talented chefs and culinary artists from diverse and immigrant communities. So when we say, “authentic food by authentic chefs,” we mean that very intentionally. We’re investing in people and their talents while building our business.
Ultimately, we don’t just cater food; we cater to the needs, ideas, and vision of our clients. That’s what we want people to remember about Gandum: authentic food, beautiful presentation, diverse culinary traditions, and an experience that is truly built around them.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
We cater all kinds of events, big or small, from corporate events and weddings to family gatherings and different celebrations. We offer individual food boxes, trays, buffet-style service, and beautiful spread tables. For events that need more support, our staff can also help with table setup and decoration, as well as serving guests. We really try to be flexible and offer whatever works best for the type of event and what our clients need.
