Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooklynn Wandry-Huff.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
A lot of people ask me if I had always wanted to be a hairstylist and a lot of them are shocked when I say “ Actually no”. I grew up most of my life wanting to be in and teach musical dance theatre, and my goal was to one day open up a community theatre. However, when Covid-19 hit in 2020, I had a lot of time to think and ponder about my future and I came to the conclusion that even though I love dance, what would happen if a pandemic like this hit again and there were no performances, classes etc. or what if I got hurt and was unable to dance? I felt like I did not have any other skills to fall back on in those cases and it worried me. I started looking into other career options that were still creative, and would still allow me to have a family one day and have a flexible schedule. . After a lot of research and prayer I decided that cosmetology was the best suited for my wants and needs. I ended up applying to MTECh in Lehi (which is a lottery program acceptance program) and got in on the second time I tried! I was thrilled.
I loved learning in school and I fell in love with hairstyling pretty fast. Even though going through cosmetology school itself was one of the hardest experiences of my life (especially getting pregnant in the middle of it and having to finish very sick), I put all my effort into learning and starting my business. Even in school my instagram and name I went by was “BH Beauty”. Back then it was just an easy name to decide on, since I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to specialize in and my initials were BH (Brooklynn Huff). Now, BH Beauty means so much more to me, as I have created a brand based around bridal hair (which is now what the BH stands for as I’m now divorced and my initials are BW) and being able to add in a team that also does bridal makeup and more!
I graduated cosmetology school in January 2023 and instantly started working from a home salon I had made in my house. It was my happy place and even though many people I went to school with thought I was crazy to start working not in a salon or as an assistant, I think it was the best thing for me, and I was really pushed in those first few months to rely on my education and skills to formulate color, place highlights, style hair, and give a haircut that my clients wanted. I learned so much between January and May. I had my sweet baby boy in May of 2023 and took some time off work because I had a terrible delivery experience and almost died and had a vey long and painful recovery process.
My cousin asked me to style her hair for her wedding that August and I was so excited. It was then where I realized that I really loved brides and hairstyling specifically and that if I took some more courses and practiced a lot I could get pretty good at this. So I spent the rest of 2023 taking bridal hair classes online and practicing on models and mannequins until I felt confident enough to start advertising for it. My first year of offering bridal hair (2024) I booked over 40 weddings! From there I fell more in love with the wedding industry and continued to prioritize education and practice and as I got better and better I was able to charge more and more and here we are in 2026 and I’ve booked 100 weddings this year for my team and I!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been many struggles a long the way! I do feel blessed overall to have had so much success in the first 3 years of my business, but it was not for lack of effort and trial and error.
One of the biggest struggles has been my health. Since 2020 I’ve been rear-ended in my car 4 times and so I have a lot of neck and back pain. My most recent accident was in 2024 and I had a hard time trying to balance running my business from the admin side of things, physically working doing hair, being a mom, and having a lot of chiropractic and doctors visits. But with the help and support of my mom, I was able to do everything I needed to do.
Another struggle was learning about instagram and social media and trying to grow those accounts without feeling like I was trying to be something I wasn’t. I get %90 of my clients from instagram, and keeping my appearance up on there is really important, but it was hard to get over my own insecurities and post things I didn’t feel like was “good enough” and take videos of the hairstyles I did even though I felt awkward about it etc.

I am a professional Bridal Hairstylist based on Utah county, Utah. I specialize in romantic, timeless, and bohemian styles that elevate the look of my beautiful brides. I travel around Utah, as well as all around the country. I am known for my “European-like” styling techniques, professionalism, long-lasting hairstyles, high-quality extension rentals, and my new bridal hair and makeup team that surpasses all expectations!
I have been recognized globally in the ONESHOT hair awards, being placed in the top 25 in their special event styling catagory. My work has also been featured in multiple bridal magazines and wedding blogs including Utah Valley Bride, Utah Bride and Groom, and Wedding Chicks.
