Hi Janica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I never set out to own a medical practice. I simply kept following where my passion for patient care took me.
I started in healthcare more than 17 years ago as a CNA, then became an RN and eventually a Family Nurse Practitioner. Along the way, I trained new nurses, helped develop safety standards for a major hospital system, and gained experience across different areas of medicine, aesthetics, hormones, and medical weight loss.
Over time, I realized there was something missing from the healthcare experience I wanted to provide. I wanted more time with patients. More listening. More education. More continuity. I wanted patients to know exactly who was caring for them and to have direct access to their provider when they needed it.
That idea became NEXI Medical.
I built NEXI as a concierge-style, solo practice where I can combine my clinical experience with a much more personal approach to care. Whether someone comes in for hormones, medical weight loss, or aesthetics, my goal is the same: to understand the whole person, create a thoughtful plan, and make patients feel genuinely seen, heard, and cared for.
NEXI is the practice I always wanted to create for my patients, and I am incredibly proud of what it has become.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. One of the hardest parts was making the decision to leave a well-paying medical spa position with benefits and take the financial risk of starting NEXI on my own. Walking away from the security of a steady paycheck to build something from the ground up was scary, especially when I had no guarantee it would work.
But I knew I wanted to create something that was truly mine and practice medicine in a way that felt right to me. I wanted the time to actually listen to my patients, build relationships with them, and provide the kind of concierge-style care I had always wished I could offer without the limitations of a larger practice.
There have absolutely been moments of uncertainty, long days, and a lot of learning along the way. But every time I see NEXI growing and a patient tell me they finally feel heard and cared for, I am reminded why I took the leap in the first place.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nexi Medical?
NEXI Medical is a concierge-style medical practice built around highly individualized, unhurried care. I focus on giving each patient the time they deserve to achieve their personal goals. While traditional medical visits can often be limited to 5 to 15 minutes, I intentionally spend anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours with my patients so I can truly listen, understand the bigger picture, and provide treatment that is right for them. I specialize in hormones, medical weight management, and aesthetic injectables such as Botox and filler, with a focus on treating the whole individual rather than simply addressing a single symptom. Ultimately, I want my patients to feel good, confident, and cared for, both inside and out.
What sets NEXI apart is that I am a solo provider, so patients work directly with me from their first consultation through ongoing care. I intentionally keep my practice small so I can build genuine relationships with my patients, provide ongoing education, and be personally involved in their care rather than rushing them through appointments.
I am especially proud of the brand I have built around NEXI: sophisticated, welcoming, and deeply personal. I want patients to feel comfortable asking questions, being honest about what they are experiencing, and knowing they have a provider who truly knows them.
At the end of the day, NEXI is about more than any one treatment. It is about creating a healthcare experience where excellent medicine, individualized care, and a genuine relationship with your provider can exist together.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe luck has played a significant role. But you also have to be willing to recognize an opportunity and take a chance on yourself. I have been fortunate to have colleagues, friends, family, and patients who have supported me and helped spread the word about NEXI.
I love when patients genuinely feel a difference in their care and refer their colleagues and friends after finally finding answers or relief for issues they had been seeking help for with other providers. Sometimes they simply needed more time, more conversation, and someone willing to look beyond a 10 or 15 minute visit. Those referrals are by far the most meaningful to me. They often come to NEXI already connected to my model of care because someone they trust has experienced what it feels like to truly be listened to and cared for.
Building a business from scratch has required a lot of hard work, persistence, and uncomfortable leaps of faith. I feel incredibly fortunate and lucky for the people and opportunities that have crossed my path, and I have tried to make the most of each one.
