Community Highlights: Meet Steve Baker of Axcess Accident Center of Provo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Baker.

Steve, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I come from a third-generation chiropractic family, so helping people improve their lives has always been part of who I am. After graduating from Logan College of Chiropractic, I began practicing in 2007 and quickly developed a passion not only for patient care but also for building businesses and creating opportunities for others.

In 2011, I became a clinic owner, eventually growing Baker Chiropractic into what is now Axcess Accident Center. Today, we operate four locations throughout Utah, specializing in helping people recover from auto accidents and injuries. We’ve been fortunate to receive multiple Best of State awards and earn the trust of thousands of patients along the way.

My entrepreneurial journey has also taken me outside of healthcare, including launching Good Grindz Hawaiian Food in Salem. I’ve always enjoyed the challenge of building something from the ground up, developing teams, and finding ways to contribute to the communities we serve.

Through it all, my philosophy has remained pretty simple: help people live extraordinary lives. Whether that’s through healthcare, business, mentorship, or community involvement, I believe success is about more than what you build. It’s about the people you impact along the way.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not! I don’t think entrepreneurship is ever a completely smooth road. There have been plenty of challenges, setbacks, sleepless nights, and lessons learned the hard way.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to balance being a healthcare provider, business owner, leader, husband, and father. Early on, I felt like I needed to do everything myself. Over time, I’ve learned that building the right team, trusting others, and creating systems are essential to growing a successful business.

We’ve navigated staffing challenges, financial pressures, changing healthcare and insurance environments, and the growing pains that come with expanding to multiple locations. Starting a restaurant also brought an entirely different set of challenges and learning experiences!

I’ve learned that things rarely go exactly as planned, and sometimes the greatest opportunities come disguised as problems. The key is being willing to adapt, surround yourself with good people, and keep moving forward.

Looking back, I wouldn’t say the road has been easy, but the challenges have shaped me as both a business owner and a person. I still have plenty to learn, and that’s part of what makes the journey exciting.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Axcess Accident Center of Provo?
Axcess Accident Center of Provo is much more than a chiropractic clinic. Our mission is simple: helping people live their extraordinary lives! We’ve proudly served the Provo community for 15 years, providing over 163,000 patient treatments during that time.

We specialize in treating people injured in automobile accidents, particularly those suffering from whiplash, spinal injuries, disc injuries, headaches, and other musculoskeletal conditions. Our doctors have advanced training and certifications in motor vehicle collision injuries, allowing us to provide specialized care while understanding the complexities of accident-related injuries.

What sets Axcess apart is our comprehensive approach to recovery. We offer chiropractic care, massage therapy, acupuncture, spinal decompression, rehabilitation, and other advanced treatment options, including ozone injections. We understand that injuries impact more than just someone’s physical health. They can affect their ability to work, enjoy their family, and participate in everyday activities. Our goal is to help restore those opportunities.

Our Provo team includes Dr. Austin Jeffords and Dr. Brian Aranda, along with myself, Dr. Steve Baker. We also have Spanish-speaking providers and staff to better serve our diverse community.

Brand-wise, I’m incredibly proud of the reputation we’ve built. Across our four Utah locations, Axcess has earned over 3,500 five-star reviews, received Utah’s Best of State Award for Accident & Injury Rehabilitation five consecutive years, and been recognized as Utah Valley Magazine’s Best Chiropractor eight times.

But what I’m most proud of isn’t the awards or the number of patients we’ve treated. It’s the relationships we’ve built, the team we’ve developed, and the difference we’ve made in people’s lives.

We want people to know that you don’t have to be injured in an accident to visit Axcess. Whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or simply looking to improve your overall mobility and quality of life, we’re here to help.

At the end of the day, our brand is about people, relationships, and helping everyone who walks through our doors get back to Living Their Extraordinary Life!

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that surprises people is that outside of being a chiropractor and business owner, I play ice hockey! I love getting out on the ice, competing, and having fun with the guys. It’s a great escape from the day-to-day responsibilities of running businesses.

Another thing people might not realize is how much I enjoy entrepreneurship beyond healthcare. From building chiropractic clinics to opening a Hawaiian restaurant, I love taking an idea and turning it into something real. It’s not always pretty, and it definitely doesn’t always go as planned, but I enjoy the process of creating something from nothing.

At the end of the day, I’m a husband, father of four, hockey player, and entrepreneur who happens to be a chiropractor. I love helping people, building relationships, and finding ways to make life a little more extraordinary!
