Today we’d like to introduce you to Marielle Reyes.
Hi Marielle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started freelancing for Nars Cosmetics while I was in Esthetician school and that was over 16 yrs ago. I worked for them for about 8 or so years and slowly started making my way into commercial makeup world. I’ve been in the industry ever since and it’s been the best career I could have ever asked for.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely not a smooth road but overall I feel like I’ve been blessed with great clients and have been able to adjust my workload throughout the years to focus on family when needed and for that I’m very grateful for.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in mostly commercial makeup and hair and some special event and bridal. I feel like I’m known for glowing skin and more of a natural finish ( the aesthetician in me loves a healthy glow). I’m a fan of chic and a bit undone hair and makeup. I’m proud of my ability to listen to clients and adjust what is needed for them because at the end of the day I’m here to make them feel beautiful. I feel like my range of abilities sets me apart, I’m comfortable with basics and natural looks on all kinds of people but I’m also able to do more glam or editorial type work.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’ve been so blessed with support from all of my loved ones. I couldn’t have expanded in my career without help from my husband Nahum or my parents. I’ve also been so fortunate with my makeup artist community. My Nars team really trained me in so many ways during those 8 years ( shout out to Adrienne, Jody and Raquel). Realistically If my friend MaryAnne hadn’t pulled me into commercial work I most likely wouldn’t have gone into this line of work and for that I’m forever grateful 🥹. I honestly have a lot of great artists friends that always look out for me and vice versa, it’s a wonderful community.
