Meet Ricky Archuletta of Utah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ricky Archuletta.

Hi Ricky, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
“I’m Birdy — independent hip-hop artist, West Coast roots, based in Utah. I grew up studying the whole history of hip-hop — 2Pac is my GOAT, Scarface is the hardest MC ever in my opinion, and I came up on Game, 50 Cent, and Eminem. In the newer era, Nipsey was my favorite — I actually saw him open for Game back in 10th grade and that night stuck with me forever — alongside Wayne, Wiz, Drake, Curren$y, Cole, and Kendrick. I even go back to the old school: NWA, Too Short, Ice-T.
I do everything myself — and I produce because Dr. Dre is my favorite producer, so I had to learn the craft from the best. Beats, writing, cover art — I own my masters, my publishing, all of it. I’ve performed everywhere from Kushstock to House of Blues San Diego to rooms all over Salt Lake City.
I took a break recently after some real-life family stuff, but I’m back going harder than ever. Right now I’m pushing my catalog, playing shows, and building everything on my own terms. God didn’t bring me this far for nothing.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not even close — and honestly, smooth wouldn’t be any fun. Doing everything independent means there’s no label, no team, no machine behind me — it’s just me making the beats, writing, producing, promoting, all of it. Coming out of Utah, you’re not in a major market, so every opportunity you have to go take yourself.
I’ve had real-life stuff too — family situations that forced me to step back for a minute. And this industry has vultures: people trying to scam you, take your money, take your credit. You learn to move smarter.
But every struggle made the music realer. I’m still here, still independent, still owning everything I make. That’s the win.”

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m an independent hip-hop artist and producer — I make my own beats, write everything, produce it all, even design my own cover art. I own my masters, my publishing, my copyrights — every piece of it.
I’m known for high-energy live shows — I’ve rocked Kushstock three times, House of Blues in San Diego, and rooms all over Salt Lake City. My most-streamed record is ‘I Just Want You To Know,’ and my single ‘Lead The Way’ is the one I’m pushing hardest right now.
What I’m most proud of? That I built all of this myself, on my own terms, with nobody handing me anything. What sets me apart is exactly that — most artists outsource half the process. I AM the process: the beats, the pen, the business. West Coast roots, Utah grind, and I know the history of this music inside and out.”

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
“The easiest way to support me is to stream the music, follow me on Instagram and TikTok (@birdymusic17), and pull up to a show when I’m in your city — nothing beats real energy in the room.
For bookings, features, and brand partnerships, DM me directly or reach out through my team and we’ll talk business. I’ve got a full media kit with my stats, rates, and what I bring to the table — I’m professional, I deliver, and I promote everything I touch.
I’m independent, so every stream, every share, every ticket actually moves the needle for me. I see all of it and I appreciate all of it
