Community Highlights: Meet Surba Tucker of SurbaFit

Today we’d like to introduce you to Surba Tucker.

Hi Surba, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been in the fitness industry in Utah for over 20 years; starting my career at a global gym learning the do’s and don’ts of the industry for a year. Prior to that, I spent a decade managing in the corporate world for the travel industry and in health care. During that time period I learned that most individuals I had direct contact with either loved or despised their jobs. As a leader in my chosen field, I was responsible for developing successful teams and high performing individuals. Paradoxically, I spent a large portion of my time managing low performers; people who needed to find their destiny in another employment situation. Therefore, I was drawn to the fitness industry with the understanding that I could have a greater impact on people who actually sought out help to achieve their goals, dreams and the lives they desired. 25 years later, I’ve curated a life and career where I only work with high performers.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Has it been a smooth road??? Not at all. The road started with working in a fitness club that was focused on sales and not the success of their members or employees. Thus, I worked long hours for very little pay. It led to a business partnership with several other trainers who I assumed shared similar goals of providing functional fitness training to our clients in a private gym facility. After five years, that partnership fell apart due to inequalities in work ethic. Upon leaving that business partnership, Ive been an independent contractor for 15 years.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about SurbaFit ?
I’m the owner of my own personal training business, SurbaFit.

I’m is a National Academy Of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer. I’ve trained a wide array of athletes: NFL, MLB, PGA, Ironman competitors, NCAA Basketball players, elite High School Sports Competitors (Soccer, Football, Golf , Basketball, Swimming, Tennis, Gymnastics, Baseball, Track & Field, Lacrosse, Hockey & Volleyball). I pay close attention to specific macro nutrient and supplement requirements, caloric intake and expenditure for each client; placing a significant focus on improving Core strength as a basis for achieving client goals. I pride myselfself in creating challenging, unique and intense fitness programs for my clients. I train clients for everyday life functionality, hip mobility, injury prevent and recovery as well as physical / mental challenges they wish to conquer.

I truly am a product of his product; training, eating, and living for adventure. My philosophy on life is to set zero limits for yourself, create possibilities for success by acknowledging fear, then engaging in the consistent practice of your craft. Embrace the child-like joy of playing and reject the chore of “working” out.

Once you live in that space where you perfect the art of playing, your life is forever changed for the better. Create your physical possibilities by enhancing your mental acuity by living on purpose. Laugh when you can. Apologize when you should and let go of what you can’t. Kiss slowly. Forgive quickly. Play HARD. Take chances. Give everything you’ve got. Love deeply. Life is too short to be anything but happy.
