Rising Stars: Meet Earthling Emporium

Today we’d like to introduce you to Earthling Emporium. Them and their team share their story with us below:

The Earthling Emporium was started as a sister store to Ginger’s Garden Cafe and Herb Shop in Springville, UT. There was a small corner with crystals and where some friends would sell handmade arts and crafts. As the cafe and herb shop grew that small corner did as well. Eventually, the boss asked some of the staff to take an old room upstairs and turn it into a store.

In order to facilitate the expansion from a small corner to a store of its own, we reached out to many local creators and artists. We opened in December of 2020 with just 15 creators on our shelves. We now a stock products from over 50 local creators! This has allowed us to grow and support our local community as well as provide customers with a really unique range of products.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Thanks to the strong presence we already had in the community, growth was relatively easy. Learning how to manage so many working parts on the other hand was a learning curve. Looking back it seems like every month we were asking the artists for different information as we updated marketing, bookkeeping, pricing, etc.

With a strong team and a lot of flexibility, we have managed to keep growing.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
This was a difficult one to pinpoint. The Earthling Emporium is really made of three individuals. Bobbie Henderson, our owner that gave us the push and financing to take this leap.

She is an amazing businesswoman who excels at getting people to move forward and accomplish more than they think they can. Eri Hayward, me a dreamer, that loves bringing a community together for a beautiful creation. Ashli Plake, the brains, that crunched numbers, managed inventory, and kept the shelves well-stocked and beautifully merchandised.

What sets us apart is that we all worked together. Speaking from my past experience in corporate and retail businesses it was so refreshing to have a boss that did follow the traditional patriarchal approaches to business management. Being a team of women with a clear understanding that we were working together created a lot more space for everyone to be humans with needs, ideas, and unique skills.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
