Community Highlights: Meet Brandon Moreland of Be Moreland Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Moreland.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Brandon Moreland. I grew up in Roseville, California, and Maui, Hawai’i. I met my wife, Princess Kaiulani, in 2015 and while this is an interview about me, she plays a big role in where I am today. in 2017, we were both going to the University of Hawai’i at Manoa on O’ahu when we started to experiment with social media. We were two broke and overworked college kids barely making it and fancied the “influencer” lifestyle.

We began to study Instagram and started the early stages of becoming “influencers” – or as we like to call it now, Content Creators. In 2018, we decided to transfer to an online university, change our majors, and move back to Maui. We went from living independently to living with her family and helping with their family business. With moving back home and working for her parents, I was able to focus solely on getting my Marketing degree. In late 2019, I started my first business: Be Moreland Media – a digital marketing agency that focuses on social media management and content creation for businesses.

I decided to take the knowledge that I learned being a content creator and use that as a way to help businesses grow their online presence in an authentic and organic way, while also converting their online audience to customers and supporters. I put all of my focus into working with one local Maui business while I continued to study for my marketing degree.

A lot happened in the chaos of 2020. While in lockdown, my wife had the idea to start an e-commerce coffee company dedicated to fueling hardworking and motivated people – whether they are an entrepreneur, working 9-5, or a stay at home moms. Together, we launched Brycks Coffee in August 2020. Also in 2020, we had the spontaneous decision to pack up all of our things and move to Utah. We relocated in October 2020, and at the end of the year, I officially brought Princess on as a partner for Be Moreland Media.

Together we began working with different businesses in Utah to improve their use of social media marketing and online presence. Now, in 2022, we are continuously growing Be Moreland Media and Brycks Coffee, while also sharing our life with our growing audience on social media.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a roller coaster! The first client I worked with for Be Moreland Media was in the short-term rental and hospitality industry. Maintaining a strong online presence for this company in the midst of a pandemic and in Hawai’i was tough! However, we pivoted, and that company is doing phenomenal now that Hawai’i is opening back up.

I am proud to say that I am still working with this client to this day! It was also tough to relocate to Utah. My wife and I knew about 6 people when we moved. Networking and meeting people in the middle of a pandemic while working from home is hard, but we’ve been able to meet some incredible people through social media!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Be Moreland Media?
Be Moreland Media is a digital marketing agency. As of today, we focus on social media management and content creation. We will soon be adding SEO and web design to our portfolio.

My wife and I have worked hard to get where we are today, and what really sets us apart from others is our dedication to our clients. While we work as a contracting business, we are very much in tune with our clients. Their success is our success. We also pride ourselves in using organic and authentic methods with social media!

How do you define success?
Success to me is defined by the experiences that I am able to have in life. I grew up with a single mom and did not have much. I started working at a young age, and in my early 20s, I didn’t really have a set direction or goals in life. I turned 26 in 2021, and still have a lot to experience, but what I have been able to experience so far is more than I ever imagined I would when I was younger.

I’m still working to gain more experience and while I do believe that I have succeeded a lot so far, there is still more that I want to do.
