Today we’d like to introduce you to McKenzie Mitchell.
Hi McKenzie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve just always loved the idea of making a house a home, whether it’s a 1,200 sq. ft. starter home or your forever home.
I lost my dad suddenly and then my sister 4 years later and everything that they ever made is now a treasure and so I love the idea of filling our homes with meaningful items that are uniquely you.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t think any mom of 4 kids under 6 has a very smooth road, but I just love to create things and I also love to share them.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I have taken several interior design courses and I love helping others create a space when they walk through the door, you can breathe a sigh of relief.
The budget is always there, so I do a lot of DIY things and I like to incorporate things I find from garage sales. I also share a lot of pellet grill recipes.
I think food is just a really unifying thing and to be able to create something that everyone loves and craves is a pretty amazing thing.
What do you think about happiness?
My family makes me happy; I have never been the “bigger, better, more” type of person. I don’t have aspirations to earn a huge income or trade-in my minivan.
I honestly don’t need any more than what I have right now and I also recognize that I am already significantly blessed. I just love the beauty of everyday life and that’s kind of what I try to share in my little corner of social media land.
