Meet Michael Carter of Ranlife Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Carter.

Hi Michael, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a local realtor serving the entire state of Utah. I started around 2012-13. I was married with two of my 3 kids. I was looking for a better way to provide for my family. At that time, I was barely able to provide for my little family.

My mom had worked at a title company for years. After I bought my first place, she asked if I’d be interested in being a realtor.

I went out with someone who was from my current brokerage for two appointments. I fell in love. I was previously playing music, and sold tons of my gear so that I could fund the real estate school. I signed up for real estate school the next day.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is anyone’s road smooth? Ha! Growing pains.

I went from a salary position to 100% commission when I had 0 background in any sales or a commission-paid job. Soon after finishing the real estate school, I was laid off and received a small severance. It only covered about half of our expenses for a month. I wanted to make it work. I HAD to make it work.

My wife gave me 60 days to get a client under contract. Here we are almost 9 years later.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Ranlife Real Estate?
I’m an associate broker at RANLife Real Estate. I specialize in residential and enjoy working especially with first-time home buyers.

I feel that I’m able to set myself apart from the whole buying and selling experience. For the most part, it’s an exciting, crazy, a new experience for people.

I am most proud of becoming a top 500 realtor in the state. We have a sister loan company, as well as a title/escrow company all under one roof. We’re a one-stop for all real estate needs!

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
You need to find someone who aligns with your goals/dreams/and vision.

I also think it’s imperative to have someone who’s been there. Achieved those dreams, I think you’ll find they can help shorten your learning curve and help create a more clear vision and path for you. Having someone that can push you, and also hold you accountable.
