Daily Inspiration: Meet Scott Tuckfield

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Tuckfield.

Hi Scott, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, and have been passionate about creating art of all sorts for as long as I can remember.

My first forays into painting happened in middle school, and then really took off in high school. My first encounter with the work of Salvador Dali, sometime in 10th grade, blew my mind and shook me to the core, and I fell in love with creating surreal, psychological, metaphysical, and otherworldly art.

I create acrylic paintings. My work is meticulously crafted; each piece is layered dozens of times using tiny brushes. The result is a subtle and vibrant color effect, one which imbues a sense of life and movement to the image and which richly rewards a closer look.

I combine sacred geometry and eastern mysticism with organic, free-form elements to create paintings that speak to a deep universal spirituality in the viewer.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve been more fortunate than many.

I have incredible parents who encouraged my creative pursuits from an early age, and I’ve had a lot of support from my community as I’ve refined my craft. All the same, it’s been a long, winding, difficult journey, and I don’t delude myself into thinking I don’t have a long way yet to go.

A lot of the challenges in my life and my career have been internal. I’ve struggled with depression and anxiety since childhood, and they often manifest as a feeling of being pulled in too many directions, of being drained of energy but denied rest.

I do my best to nurture my relationships, fulfill my obligations, and still advance my art while coping with this internal weight, but it can grind me down some days. Some days it’s pretty rough. Lately, things have been getting much better, though.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create acrylic paintings.

My work is meticulously crafted; each piece is layered dozens of times using tiny brushes. The result is a subtle and vibrant color effect, one which imbues a sense of life and movement to the image and which richly rewards a closer look.

I combine sacred geometry and eastern mysticism with organic, free-form elements to create paintings that speak to a deep universal spirituality in the viewer.

So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why?
In my work and my life, my central goal is to raise the frequency of human consciousness towards more love, unity, compassion, and understanding.

I believe art has the power to move people, and I believe art can affect change in ways that logic and reason cannot. I work to add more beauty to the world.

With my paintings, I hope to remind us all of the light and energy at the core of our being.
