Conversations with Shyanne Gubler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shyanne Gubler.

Hi Shyanne, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
First I have to say, I am not where I want to be in my journey as a businesswoman nor am I doing what I have always dreamed of; but I am working towards it every day. My dream even from the time I was a small girl has been to operate an interactive educational ranch. I want to keep the legacy and old lifestyle alive with homemade bread, milking cows, goat milk soap, and horse riding.

As a young teen, I began prepping for that goal by learning/practicing animal husbandry and marketing skills on my parent’s small hobby farm. It has been a long winding road from the young girl selling goats and giving horse riding lessons to the person I am today. I worked part-time jobs while furthering my education and gained experience through trial and error. I’ve become a wife and more recently a mother.

These beautiful life blessings have become a temporary setback to my overall goal; as being young in a small rental home without acreage is not conducive to the ranching lifestyle. Over the last couple of years to help provide for my family and try to build funds for my dream I have started several small yet successful businesses.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I would love to say this journey has been all rainbows and butterflies, but I’m still traveling this rough road and most of the time it has been far from peachy. Many tears have been shed with late nights and stressful days that make me feel like my dream is just too far out of reach. I still get discouraged as I watch land prices around my hometown hit an all-time high, but my husband has been my saving grace.

He helps me when I’m overwhelmed with work, stepping in with the baby, or my jobs when I need it. My little businesses are difficult, demanding, and time-consuming. It has been a learning curve figuring out the healthy amount of work we can manage. This is a balance that any business person must find. It shouldn’t overwhelm all your time and thoughts only just enough to keep oneself busy and from becoming discouraged.

I highly encourage a free day to spend with friends and family. It allows one to regroup, recharge, and have fresh perspectives when they return to work. My work tends to suck hours and attention no matter how well planned. It can overwhelm not only me but my family if I’m not careful. As I become more successful and busy we always sit down and reevaluate our goals looking forward to our distant future and dreams.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As of right now, I’m a stay-at-home mom who currently operates two little businesses. The first is Doggy daycare and boarding. I specialize in interactive daycare and overnight boarding. My first few customers were amazing and left me with some wonderful reviews where I became known for boarding dogs while their owners hike at Zion.

I take great pride in the fact that owners feel comfortable in my place of business, are confident in my knowledge, and trust me with their pets. I enjoy hosting a safe and comfortable environment for my clients that keeps them engaged and interactive throughout the day, sending them home mentally satiated and tired.

With low rates, a large shaded backyard, and 24/7 care my clients enjoy cool grass, playing ball, and fun in the water pool with other dog friends. My second business is more of a side hobby. I love taking in rescue animals, rehabilitating, training, and finding them a loving home. I take in special needs cases and surrender cases.

All animals are looked over, given their proper vaccinations, if age appropriate scheduled for spay or neuter, and begin training right away. Most of the ones I get are older pups who need a little extra love and training. After rehoming, I enjoy keeping in touch with the new owners to see how the animals are adjusting to their new lives.

It is a very fulfilling and heartwarming business that brings me great joy. I’m considered rather unique since I rehabilitate and rehome animals after they have received the necessary training that will allow them to have a fulfilling life where ever they go.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Rover has been a great help in keeping my boarding business fully organized and advertised.
