Today we’d like to introduce you to Tate Fishburn.
Tate, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started with one picture a friend of mine took during a middle school photography class. She placed the camera on the trunk of a tree creating leading lines up to its branches, and that was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen at that age. I then took my camera on a trip to Italy and enjoyed messing around with all the different settings. I’ve loved creating art since then.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Taking pictures is easy, I mean you can pull out your tiny pocket computer and take crazy high-resolution pictures right now. The difficulty comes when money is involved as the model/client is depending on you for quality as well as legal assurances.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a business photographer, I specialize in personal and branded portraiture. Outside of professional photography, I shoot anything photogenic; cars, landscapes, people, whatever. I am most proud of my knowledge of Lightroom. Editing isn’t usually the fun part of photography but the capabilities of the software allow me to change the feel of photos drastically after the fact. Many photographers feel the image should be untouched and left unedited, but some of my favorite photographs are heavily edited.
Any big plans?
Right now, I’m trying to get paid for my photography. Once that’s a little more stable and consistent, I want to start a media company.
