Check Out Ryan Grassley’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Grassley.

Hi Ryan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Sam and I joined Extreme Motus at the end of 2019 to help with marketing. When I looked at the Extreme Motus off-road wheelchair I knew it was perfect for Sam. I knew if Sam and I made great videos of this product that many people would watch them and realize the Extreme Motus was perfect for them as well.

Together we shared our adventures on TikTok. We now have over 260,000 followers and have generated around 72 million views. With TikTok, we have been able to show the world that nature is wheelchair accessible.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The pandemic started as soon as Sam and I started working for Extreme Motus. With so much uncertainty, businesses closed and people losing their jobs I thought our little start-up was in big trouble. But Sam and I carried on making great content and generated millions of views.

The sales were coming in, but the supply chain issues were and still are making it difficult to fulfill orders. Our supply chain problems also limit our ability to advertise. We don’t attend trade shows or pay for advertising. We know that doing this would increase sales and we won’t have the ability to fulfill the orders.

It feels great to have our content finding customers but the supply chain is limiting our ability to grow.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been a content creator since the early days of YouTube when I took a motorcycle ride from Utah to the Panama Canal and home again. My adventure was around 13,000 miles in 9 different countries. Before leaving I built a website that allowed the people following the adventure to vote on where I went next. I’d make a video and ask for my next destination.

It was difficult to film, and edit while traveling so many miles. This was in 2006 and I was spending hours sitting in internet cafes trying to upload to YouTube. It was an amazing experience and my first foray into content marketing.

But I’d never experienced the type of viral success I’m having with Extreme Motus until I partnered with Sam Durst. Sam goes bananas when he’s included in these adventures in his Extreme Motus Off-road Wheelchair. His excitement for life and contagious laughter make our videos so much fun to watch and really shine through the copycat dance videos on TikTok. Our videos are funny and inspiring and that helps us to stand out.

Any big plans?
We want to visit more State and National Parks and make content that shows the world that wheelchair users can plan trips to places that don’t have sidewalks and ramps. Our country’s most beautiful locations are off-limits for people with mobility issues that don’t have the right equipment.

Sam and I want to continue to show the world all the amazing places they can see with the right mobility equipment.
