Community Highlights: Meet Alex Pizarro of Alex Pizarro Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Pizarro.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my film business in weddings in April of 2020, at that time I was still new to Utah, I moved from Las Vegas. So the idea of jumping into filming weddings and capturing those special moments crossed my mind and started to do more research.

As I started with doing a lot of backyard weddings due to Covid. I was building up my portfolio and presence in the wedding industry. Little by little I self-taught how to market my business, including building my own website, Instagram, google my business, and networking to really elevated me to where I am today.

I strongly believe that by pushing myself to learn and grow, I am able to unleash my talent in the filming world.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth journey, learning takes patience. For first-time wedding filmmakers, the first thing you would need to learn is having the right gear and applying it in a real-world scenario. For me, I started with a Rebel SL2 and a kit lens. I didn’t have the high-end gear like I do today.

It took a lot of work to master the skills and learn about the couples and the type of weddings and locations Utah had to offer. As an advice to those that are starting off, if you want to be in the wedding film business, find a couple that can’t afford a videographer for their wedding and offer to do it for free or for a small fee. This is how I overcame the struggles early in the beginning.

As you know, we’re big fans of Alex Pizarro Productions. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My business reflects on producing the best story film for all my couples. I specialize in weddings, first looks, engagement videos, and even proposal videos. Almost anything that is tied with telling a story, a journey from where they first met to their wedding day.

I believe what sets me apart from others is how I present myself to my couples. From the moment we chat on the phone all the way until we meet in person, I think right away the couples understand how much of a passion I have for the wedding film industry. With that being said, it makes me feel proud wise that I can now produce the best film on their wedding day. 🙂

I have also received many referrals, because of how I have filmed their wedding day, if you are a pleasure to work with, then you will get more weddings down the road! 🙂

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The credit really goes to the couples I have worked with, without them I would not be where I am at today. I have learned from them to become a professional in the field of wedding filmmaking. They have been the ones that provided me with the feedback that I need in order to be successful. And I will not forget my wife Megan, she has been my #1 supporter in all of this, from putting up with me buying gear, which can cost into the thousands ….lol. All the way to becoming a huge supporter of my business. Again I would not be here without them.
