Life & Work with Samuel Torres

Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Torres.

Hi Samuel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hello, my name is Samuel Torres – Actor/Dancer/Creative Mexican American 19 yrs. IG: @_samueladrian_

Well, I grew up in Santaquin, Utah with my parents and 4 other siblings. Growing up in Utah was a lot to get used to, especially being Mexican and being surrounded by white people got me having an identity crisis. As I got older I learned to appreciate my culture and love the color of my skin and I’m very proud of who I am.

I moved to Provo when my parents got a divorce when I was 9 and I’ve been with the best loving woman ever since. My mom has been my rock and has always been there for me throughout my whole journey. She would clean the dance studios late at night just so I could dance because we didn’t have the money. My family has been through some tough times but my mother always had a smile on her face and always told us, kids, that everything was going to be alright.

I’m an Actor/Dancer/Creative, I’ve been dancing since I was 11 at Legacy Dance Studio and took it professionally when I enrolled at Pioneer High School for the Performing Arts in American Fork, Utah, and competed on NBC World of Dance with judges JLO, Neyo, and Derek Hough when I was 15. I joined an amazing dance studio with a scholarship ( Center Stage for the Performing Arts Studio). After I did the NBC show with them, I trained in ballroom, hip-hop, contemporary, jazz, and ballet until I was 18.

I’ve always wanted to be an actor ever since I was little so I decided after I graduated from my dance studio I would join a Talent Agency and pursue my acting dreams! My mom always told me to chase my dreams and provided a healthy space for me and my 4 other siblings to be who we wanted to be. Honestly providing love for a kid and telling them they can achieve anything they want in life is all it takes, it’s how little Sam gained the drive and confidence to start putting in THE WORK. I was determined to become something of myself so I did and I’m currently on the best journey that I have paved for myself and I’m so grateful for all the opportunities.

I’ve been with my Talent Agency for 2 years now building up my resume and putting in the work, doing auditions, acting workshops, and reading books. I’ve worked with Disney, and Apple Tv, and I just landed a role in a new Hallmark Movie starring Carlos and Alexa Penavega. I can’t say much but we just finished filming last month (May) and it was the best experience, I loved it! I’m now currently memorizing my lines for a new role I just landed for a film called “Renaissance Kid” directed by Clark Winegar. Filming will start this summer in July!

Let me tell you it wasn’t easy. I’ve worked very hard, researched, and asked questions, and I put myself in places where I knew I would be able to ask those questions. When you are really passionate about something your body follows and it just feels right working for it. The mentality is everything you really have to visualize yourself being and having that abundant energy to you. The Law of Attraction and Manifestation has helped me a lot. When you keep your vibrations high and do things in alignment with what you want, the opportunities start flowing. You cannot have a scarcity mindset. You have to shift your mind to a place where you are living as if you already have the things you desire.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all, a journey like this take a road paved by yourself. Some struggles I would face would be self-doubt, judgment from others, and figuring out who I am as a person while trying to make something of myself.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
