Daily Inspiration: Meet Bougie Boards

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bougie Boards. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Bougie Boards is the brainchild of two friends whose love for good food was unmatched. Jessica was born and raised in France, and when you spend the first 30 years of your life in the land of wine and cheese, it’s hard not to develop a taste for great food. She grew up understanding that fabulous food is usually at the center of any good gatherings. Heather grew up in Washington state, where from an early age she knew to appreciate homemade cuisine.

They both moved to Utah in 2021 and met through their church. They quickly became friends and realized how much they had in common. Jessica had been thinking of starting a charcuterie business and Heather was the perfect push to implement it. Humor is a strong part of their friendship and as they joked about different names for the business, Bougie Boards was born.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Since Bougie Boards is such a new business, the biggest challenge so far has just been getting started. Of course, the fun stuff is dreaming about our products and how we can make our charcuterie boards delicious and amazing, but it’s the behind-the-scenes stuff that is overwhelming. However, grinding away at as much of the boring details now will open up more time for the fun creative stuff down the road.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Bougie Boards, we create rustic and authentic charcuterie-style catering. We say authentic because of Jessica’s background in France and her knowledge of cheese. The goal is not to just put together a tray that looks like a nice centerpiece but to offer a charcuterie that will be delicious down to every crumb. The cheese needs to be the main character of every charcuterie board and we offer the cheeses that we know, love, and serve to our own guests.

I think Bougie Boards is becoming known for how beautiful food can be when left in its natural and rustic state. We are not cookie cutter. The goal is to celebrate the contrast of flavors, colors, and variety in every bougie box and board that we put together.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Our advice would be to reach out to local people you find interesting in your niche. We introduced ourselves to several influencers in the area who were very kind and helpful in getting the Bougie Boards’ name out there. We have found other entrepreneurs tend to be more than willing to share advice and encouragement as well, so don’t be shy.
