Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia Mazur.
Hi Anastasia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up as an only child and what I remember is we moved a lot. I never really minded though. I loved the excitement of moving somewhere new, making new friends, and experiencing new cultures!
When my family landed on St.George, Utah on accident, we all just knew it was home!
Growing up, I always wanted to do something in the beauty world. I just never knew exactly what. I loved all things hair and makeup. As a young teenager, I was always the one to do others’ makeup and hair for events or even just for fun!
Prom season was the highlight of my high school years!
At that time I knew when I was done with school I wanted to focus on beauty and possibly make it my career! So when I finished high school in May of 2016, I thought I’d take a year off and then figure out how I would go about getting into the industry. Plans definitely went differently.
I had started dating my current boyfriend by the end of 2016 and by the beginning of 2017 I had moved to Chino Hills, California.
I put beauty on the back burner… I was working to live. I got stuck in the everyday 8-5 job.
I worked running a restaurant in Walnut, California for about 3 years before I finally decided I wanted to change the direction of my life and go back to school for cosmetology! Especially since my very best friend in St.George, Marissa was about to go to cosmetology school as well!
I went back and forth on the idea of going to school in California. In the end, my boyfriend and I decided it would be best for both of us to move back to St.George for me to attend school and have that be my sole focus!
In July 2019, we moved back. In October I was enrolled and starting my schooling!
I was also able to go to school with my best friend.. which was one of the best perks!
I feel like moving around a lot as a kid helped me socially and in this career path especially. I was able to talk confidently to clients without getting overwhelmed and work with others as a team to get big projects done.
Being in school while living through a pandemic was definitely interesting and sure had its hard moments and setbacks, but I’m so thankful that I got extra time in school to perfect my craft!
After a school shut down and personal leave, I graduated from cosmetology school in February 2022!
After school, I was hired and I am currently working at Revive Hair Salon here in St.George, Utah.
I absolutely love my career and everything that it intails.
Helping women feel good about themselves is one of the main reasons I got into what I do!
Accentuating one’s beauty is such an amazing job and I am so grateful I get to do what I love every single day for all these amazing women in my area! I hope to continue to grow as a stylist and always keep learning !
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to my career wasn’t always smooth. I always did try to stay positive, of course, because life just happens and it’s the way you go about it and how you work past those obstacles.
It can be really intimidating going into hair school or even the beauty industry. My biggest insecurity was me thinking:
“I wonder if I’ll ever be good at hair?”
“Am I as good as the girl next to me?”
“Do I belong here?”
Working past those insecurities was definitely hard, but the longer I was in school, and the more clients I received, the more confident I became!
Inconveniences in life will always happen.
If I’ve learned anything it’s that! You can only control the way you react to the problem, anxiety, or issue at hand.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in blondes, hair color, brows, extensions, basic facials, and makeup. I am pretty well known for my before and after photos on my Instagram page. It’s always best to have an after be so different from the before that you and the client forgot what the before even looked like!
I am proud of all my work thus far! I’m excited about the future and the future clients I will meet!
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I am still accepting clients currently and would love to see any of you reading in my chair or at my table! You can reach out to me with any questions or to book an appointment!
