Rising Stars: Meet Hilda Cordero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hilda Cordero.

Hi Hilda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My name is Hilda I was Born in Mexico but raised in Salt Lake City my whole life. I am the second oldest of 5 kids and was raised by a single mom most of my life. Being one of the oldest meant I had to take care of my siblings and start working at a very young age to help out my mom. My mother was a very hard worker so that meant most of her day was spend at work to try and provide for us. So, growing up seeing that made me realize that when I had kids I didn’t always want to be gone at work. I became an orthodontic assistant right out of high school and continued that for 13 years. I loved it but knew I needed to do more. I needed to be able to make more money yet be home with my kids more. It was then that I knew I had to go back to school. As a mother, my kids mean the world to me so I knew I had to make a change. I quit my full-time job and went to school for aesthetics. I fell in love with the beauty industry! I learned so much, but out of it all, lashes was definitely what I wanted to focus on. I am now graduated and a licensed esthetician. I continued my education and trained with different skilled lash estheticians to learn all the latest techniques and styles; I am also certified in permanent cosmetics with lip blush. I have my own studio salon along with my husband whom is also in the beauty industry in. We are located in Midvale city. Becoming an esthetician has changed my life. I can now work around my kids’ schedules; I make more money and yet can be home more than I ever have been before. I love what I do and have such amazing clients that I love. I can’t wait to continue growing my business and adding more services. Becoming a business owner in the beauty industry is amazing and fun, it is something that I’m grateful and glad I persuade.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been all great. Starting a business from scratch takes time. Money didn’t come right away so that definitely got stressful. Spending on business yet not having a full clientele definitely is something that at times would get me down but I never gave up I knew I would be seen for my great work and never quit.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in lash extensions. I offer lash tints, lash perms, and full body waxing but most of my clients are for lash extensions. I am very detailed I don’t let my clients leave until they’re lashes are fully filled and fluffy. I love meeting new people my clients tell me I am like they’re therapist coming to me lets them relax in peace and feel beautiful when they are done.

What’s next?
My goal is to start up my own lash line that offers everything you need for lash extensions as in lashes, adhesives, primers, bonders, and tweezers. I want to be able to offer new upcoming lash techs with affordable products and classes to continue learning all the new and latest lash techniques
