Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Nhan.
Hi Christina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Hi! My name is Christina Nhan. I’m the owner and head florist of The Modern Orchid Floral Designs. I started my business after doing some personal floral designs and arrangements for my close family and friends for a couple of years. What really pushed me to actually make this a business was when I started to work on floral designs for centerpieces, bouquets, and other designs for my upcoming wedding in October 2022. It really helped me realize how much I love working with flowers and designing something really unique whether it’s silk, dry, or fresh flowers.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely wasn’t a smooth road, but it wasn’t as difficult as I had expected it to be. What made the business start-up so successful was the tremendous love and support from my family and friends.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an independent small floral arrangement designer and I work with various different mediums such as fresh, dry, silk, wood flowers, and more. My goal is to work with the client directly by sitting down or connecting with them and really taking the time to go over what their vision is, what they expect from the design I created, etc.
It’s really rewarding to see in the end how happy the clients are with the love and work I put into each piece. That’s what really makes me feel the most fulfilled.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I actually do modeling also as a pastime which may include me designing the set or assisting in creating floral arrangements for the photoshoot set as well. I also currently am enrolled at the University of Utah and plan on graduating I’m 2024 with my bachelor’s in Economics.
