Hi Mabel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My passion and love for fashion began at a very early age. Growing up, my parents owned a clothing factory in Chile. After finishing high school, I traveled to Europe to study in a Fashion Design school and Industrial Pattern making Academy called Escuela Guerrero located in Barcelona, Spain. For my final project, I was awarded the 1st prize and a scholarship from my school. In 2009 I was featured as one of The 10 Coolest Entrepreneurs of Utah Valley by Utah Business Q Magazine. All combined, I have more than 20 years of experience in the industry.
I founded Savvy Apparel Studio an Apparel Product Development Firm and Cut & Sew Contractor for the Apparel and Fashion Industry. Savvy has been involved in the development of many apparel collections being sold at well-known retailers such as Nordstrom, Macy’s, Costco, Walmart, and high-end boutiques throughout the country. Our Services Include: Apparel Design, Pattern Making, Digitizing, Grading, Markers, Tech Packs, Prototypes, Final Samples, Sourcing, Production Management, and Production. We are heavily involved in the development and production for streetwear men’s and women’s apparel. Gradually, our product category has expanded to workout clothing, ski wear, outdoor mountaineering, sports cycling, leisure, lifestyle, and workwear clothing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road for us and me particularly. Being a woman, and additionally Latina has made me vulnerable to many obstacles and challenges such as balancing family and work, and competing to be seen in this world.

And our Vision is to establish Savvy Apparel Studio as the leader in the development and production of apparel goods, while honoring our values of efficiency, accuracy, creativity, and honesty. We make design concepts and ideas a reality, for not only established apparel brands but also small businesses just getting started. We make dreams come true.
This industry is so hard, it is confusing at times and new designers are vulnerable to making wrong decisions due to their lack of expertise. This is why I dedicate all my time to helping them, to add all my expertise and the expertise of my entire team, resources, and partners of many years, to develop and produce their collections.
It is so satisfying and so rewarding to see new designers, and brands launching their new clothing successfully.
