Meet Abby Studdert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Studdert.

Hi Abby, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
We launched Graham Swim in 2020 (mother/daughter duo) when we saw the need for all-inclusive, quality swimming suits at affordable pricing. Launching during Covid shutdowns made it challenging, but we learned a lot that year and were able to make changes in the direction and branding we wanted to do.

We love that Graham Swim is all about being kind to ourselves, being confident with the body we have been given, and just putting on the suit now. We all have things we’d love to change about ourselves… we are our worst critics. But we are hoping to help women find body positivity by providing swimming suits they feel comfortable in.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Launching Graham Swim during the pandemic was really hard. All vacations and travel came to a halt. But it was definitely a year of learning and making changes to improve what Graham Swim was set out to do. Anytime you start a new company you run into challenges.

We are still such a new company but have been really proud of the direction we are headed. We still have bumps in the road and challenges to get through but we have a great team of women to help us along the way.

We’ve been impressed with Graham Swim, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Graham Swim was started with a mother/daughter duo, Abby Studdert and Sarah Anne Gray, who love fashion and have been in the online retail business for over 12 years.

When we saw the need for quality swimming suits at affordable pricing we jumped on it. Along our journey, we realized how many women struggle with feeling confident in swimwear. Swimming suits are vulnerable and we felt like the world puts such an unrealistic emphasis on what our bodies should look like. We decided early on in our business that we wanted to use real women, with real bodies in our photography and in marketing our suits. We do not photoshop our models.

We do not use professional models. We love using ALL body types and ages for our photo shoots. We hope everyone can relate and see how good our suits will look on your body!

We all have different ways of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is different for everyone. But for us it’s when a customer reaches out and thanks us for designing a suit they feel comfortable and confident wearing or thanking us for showing real women with real bodies that they can relate to.

When we hear feedback like that it feels very successful! We love promoting body positivity and kindness to ourselves.
