Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Bosworth.
Hi Brandi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been a part of the Ogden Nature Center for over 26 years! The greater part of my life. My time at the Ogden Nature Center began as a volunteer. I was both on the Advisory Board and helped my very young daughter feed the classroom animals weekly. I then joined the Board of Directors and served in that role for five and a half years, and then became an official staff member, working as Development Director for about three years, and then as Public Relations Coordinator for the next 16 years! The Ogden Nature Center has become my treasured home-away-from-home, and the people associated with the Nature Center are like family!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The Ogden Nature Center is a delightful place to work. We are fortunate to witness the changing seasons and wonderful and diverse wildlife, and we enjoy a gorgeous setting every single day. I have been fortunate to work with a consistent and talented staff along the way. Of course, in over 26 years of involvement, there have been differing opinions and other small challenges, but all-in-all, working at the Ogden Nature Center has truly blessed and shaped my life and my daughter’s life.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My PR role blends artistic skills with people skills and both are so enjoyable for me. I create all of the printed pieces for the Nature Center: the newsletter, the website, posters, banners, photos, etc. I also write stories, press releases, grants, and letters. I am a visual person. I enjoy color, design, lovely photographs, and images. I am also a picky person. I geek out on details, lettering, line spacing, fonts, graphics, colors, and all aspects of design.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My degree is in public relations. I would advise anyone going into PR to get some “hard skills’ like graphic design, videography, photography, etc. under your belt. Those basics will serve you well day in and day out!
