Exploring Life & Business with Jerry Zavala

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerry Zavala.

Hi Jerry, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started off as a neon sign technician in San Fernando, California. When the business relocated to Las Vegas, NV I continued to work for them until I decided to take a chance and start my own business (Falcon Signs & Designs).

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like a lot of other businesses, we have had our share of good and bad days along the way. A lot of learning experiences. When I initially branched off on my own I quickly realized that I no longer had the resources that my previous job provided (Shop vehicles, tools, etc.) I used to jam pack my old 4-door Toyota Camry with all sorts of tools and ladders and supplies that I barely even had any room to fit the Signs that were going out to install. It must have looked like a circus clown car every time I showed up at a job site.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am the owner of Falcon Signs & Designs along with my wife Jenny. I am a Nevada state electrical sign contractor. We are UL certified and are fully equipped to take on a wide range of projects. We specialize in anything from neon signs and channel letters to pole signs and monument signs.

We basically do it all when it comes down to signs. I would say that we differ from Other businesses because we are very dedicated to making sure that the quality of our craft always exceeds our client’s expectations. We are also hands-on from begging to end which I feel makes it easy for our clients to have someone there to answer any questions they might have about their project.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
When I decided to start my own business my wife Jenny Macias was on board from day one. We previously worked at the same shop together for years and after presenting the idea of starting a business to her she jumped at the chance with no hesitation and we started mapping out the next phase in our lives. We both kept our jobs until we were fortunate enough to have a consistent workload and the rest is pretty much history.
