Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacy Barnson.
Hi Lacy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My dad bought a few cameras that his friend was selling when I was in middle school and he let me use them. I would take photos of random things, but then in high school, my friend got a camera so we would go out into the desert close to where we lived and just take cool photos out there. From there, people just started asking me to take their photos and I really loved the whole experience of it all. Photography was just that creative outlet that I didn’t know I needed until I discovered it.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
HA! No. Running a photography business is no piece of the cake. I think most photographers start out doing photography as a side hustle, and then as they gain more traction, then they somehow have to figure out how to turn it into a business that has strategy, branding, and purpose to it. You can’t just pull all of that out of a hat, so somewhere along the way, you learn how important it is to invest in yourself. Another struggle was deciding when to go full-time and when would be a spot where I would be financially ready.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a wedding + couples photographer and one way that I stand out in the photography industry is the client experience that I provide for my clients. I like them to know what to expect and provide them with resources that will help them throughout our time together.
I have put lots of time into creating resources that will benefit my couples and where they are at in this unique season of their lives. I am most proud of the reviews that my clients leave me. They really capture the experience they have with me so well and it makes it all worth it.
