Inspiring Conversations with Peace Ransom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peace Ransom.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story involves a lot of abuse and trauma from an early age to well into adulthood. I’ve unfortunately experienced almost every form of abuse that I can think of – mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, financial, sexual, you name it. I was diagnosed with depression, major anxiety disorder, and PTSD. I hated my life and I hated myself. My spirit was filled with so much shame, blame, hatred, and anger that it became difficult to function in the world.

The beginning of my healing journey involved me secretly leaving my husband, selling all of my major material possessions, and purchasing a one-way ticket to Las Vegas. (Because naturally, one goes to Las Vegas to heal, right?) I didn’t have a plan, I just needed to escape my abusers, and triggers that were in Columbus, Ohio, and Las Vegas had always been a dream of mine. It was a major step in my life and turned out to be one of the best decisions that I could have made for myself and my children.

I have seen a therapist since I was 15 years old but I was still just as depressed and anxious, even in Las Vegas. My anxiety disorder became so severe that I couldn’t leave my home. Living that way, afraid to go outside or having a panic attack just to go to the store, was just horrible. I knew that I couldn’t continue to live that way. That is when I began to learn about how trauma is stored in the body and the different healing modalities I could practice to help me to release the trauma stored in my body.

I fell in love with yoga, hiking and being in nature, ecstatic dance, and sound therapy. Through these modalities plus talk therapy, I was able to heal many parts of myself and achieve a much happier, healthier state of being. I was able to let go of so much false shame and blame, release emotions stuck in my body, and reverse some of the symptoms of my anxiety disorder. Now I can say that I love my life and I am totally in love with the woman I am today.

Seeing how sound therapy and yoga so positively impacted and changed my life, I wanted to share them with others. I received certifications as a yoga teacher, trauma-sensitive yoga teacher, and sound healer. I taught yoga and dance for a few years in Las Vegas until my family decided to move to beautiful St. George. I currently have the privilege of serving the community of St. George with my yoga & ecstatic dance classes and sound healing through my business “Peace with Peace”.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I can say it has been a smooth road so far. I understand that every business has a starting point and needs to bloom and grow. I can admit that being a minority in St. George was a bit daunting at first but that quickly went away. Everyone is so extremely friendly, warm, and welcoming. It’s been a smooth and beautiful road so far.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
“Peace with Peace” offers yoga, ecstatic dance, and sound healing for those in the community suffering from chronic stress, anxiety, PTSD, & trauma. I offer sound therapy using healing instruments such as crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, and the drum. Through yoga and sound healing, we are able to release stagnant energy, release stored emotions, and heal the mind, body, and soul. I am most proud brand-wise that “Peace with Peace” offers healing that is affordable to all. Being a human is difficult so we all need healing and I want to make my forms of healing as accessible to the community as I can.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I can only say that I am lucky my Creator gifted me with four wonderful children, the most beautiful granddaughter in the world, and a loving, supportive fiancee. In business, I am lucky to be doing something that I know works, that I believe in, and am passionate about.
