Hi Kiara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Kiara Smith, I’m 20 something, I‘ve been in the beauty industry for almost 10 years and it’s finally my time to shine.Flashback to March 2020- I went from working 3 separate esthetics jobs, 7 days a week, to not working at all (thanks pandemic). Just like that, I was dropped. I spent YEARS, helping to grow these companies, and I was left with NOTHING. I thought my loyalty “meant something” and would carry me throughout my career. That’s when my partner told me the harsh truth “EMPLOYERS DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU.”
It was harsh, but it was true, and I NEEDED to hear it. I NEEDED to be left with no choice but to venture out on my own. I was the only person who was ever going to care about me. Luckily I had the physical, emotional, and financial support of my partner, who helped me build my business from the ground up. It took roughly a year to convert our detached garage, into a full day spa. Kiki Alchemy has been open for about a year now and business is booming. I have never been happier in my life and in my career than I am now. I’m proud to say that I’m the boss.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a business during Covid was NOT easy. It took some time for clients to get comfortable leaving their houses after the pandemic.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the owner and operator of an esthetics spa, Kiki Alchemy. I have been a master esthetician for almost a decade. I specialize in all things “skin” (facials, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, etc.) & sugar hair removal. Right now I am flying solo as the CEO but look forward to expanding my business in the near future.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Making other people look good & feel good brings me ultimate happiness. That’s why my career isn’t a “job.” I’m doing something that brings a smile to not one, but two pretty faces.
